Temporary Change in Library Hours
Blackwell Library’s hours are changing temporarily due to a staffing issue. The library security officer resigned before spring break. She covered the hours from midnight to 2 a.m. Sunday nights through Thursday nights, allowing Blackwell to remain open. The SU Police have received authorization to hire a replacement and expect to have someone hired by mid-April. Starting Sunday, March 22, and continuing until the new library security officer is in place, Blackwell Library will be closing at midnight. Once the new library security officer starts work, we will resume being open until 2 a.m. We also anticipate being open 24/5 during the last week of the semester and finals.
We deeply regret any inconvenience for students. We know you rely on Blackwell as a place to go, and we hope to have the late night hours available again soon. And we are happy to say that once we move into the Guerrieri Academic Commons in 2016, there shouldn’t be any problems like this. The Academic Commons will have a large 24-hour space.
