Recovery and Revelations: “You Can’t Save Everyone”
As Doran enters the room upstairs of the Ravenholdt League Inn, he notices Lycandria sleeping soundly with a bit of hair in her face. He takes a seat in a chair beside the bed, setting a pitcher of fresh water down and a sweet roll, next to the pile of papers on the end table.
She smells the bread from her sleep, and hears the subtle creak from the wooden chair as he sits down. Her eyes flutter open, giving Doran a very slight smile from her pillow. She speaks quietly, if a bit muffled with flem in her throat. "Hey..."
"Hey... Sorry to wake ya'." He responds.
She clears her throat a bit. "No... no it's okay... smell's good." She leans up from her pillow, eyeing the roll on a plate. The bed covers on her arm slide. She winces a bit before she straightens the hair from her face.
"Feel up to it?... It's fresh." He asks.
She looks between the roll and him, and back again. "Yeah... might as well try it." She carefully sits up and winces a touch. "Ribs are still... ooo, tender." She holds her side.
He pours her some water and hands her the mug.
She takes the mug of water and gets a good drink before passing it back for the roll.
"Can help with a little of that soreness if you want." He offers.
"It might help." She takes a bite and closes her eyes for a moment.
"Give me a second to focus... so I can find the worst of it." He says before gently reaching over with his hand, placing it strategically over the ribs on her right side. He then starts channeling his druid healing.
She continues to eat the roll, but is watchful for a possible sharp pain to randomly hit her. She eventually sets the roll on the plate and looks down at his hand, suddenly finding herself fighting emotions in her head. She winces with a bit of pain, but it's quickly followed with soothing energy.
"Right spot?" He asks a bit concerned.
She looks her left arm over and notices how much better it feels. She then turns to nod at Doran. "Yeah... hurt for a moment." She responds as she finishes the last few bites of her roll. "It feels better already though."
She stretches her left arm out and clinches a grip, off and on. "My arm feels stronger again."
"That's good... Haven't needed to heal Amelia or Blind for a while, but I need to get a surgeon set up to open up Blind..." He adds.
She gives him a concerned look. "What's going on with him?"
"He's got just a sliver of that barbed arrow still in his lung... It's gotta come out." He responds. "I got the worst of it out during the night, when it happened."
She slowly nods. "His breathing still labored?"
"Yeah... and it's just that sliver. Once it's out, he'll be on the way to full recovery. But I ain't a surgeon..." He sighs.
"We might have to look in Stormwind, or ask the Dragoons for Pin's surgeons, if they will help." She responds.
He nods. "Poor guy... Right now he's just happy that we're all still alive."
"Yeah, I bet he has been feeling bad about everything." She adds. "How is Amelia?" She looks back down at his hand and realizes a tear slip from her eye. She tries to hide it.
"Still worried about Amelia... had to do something a little risky." He replies.
She looks up, a bit worried. "Risky?"
He nods. "She'd have given birth on Sunday actually... but we stopped it."
"How did you stop it?" She asks.
"My specialization puts me in tune with body cycles... Gotta know certain things inside and out in order to shapeshift at all, or parts. So... ended up wrapping up the part of her that releases the labor hormones, like in a little nature magic cocoon." He explains. "Buy us a little more time for them to recover from the capture... and her not eating..."
She slowly nods and wipes another tear. Her knee shifts her pillow over just enough for the corner of an envelope to show. She isn't aware it's visible. She then hands him her empty plate.
He looks at her. "You wanna... talk about anything?" He asks, taking the plate and setting it down.
She looks at him worried for a moment. "Oh... I mean, I wish I could see what's going on outside this inn, but I know I shouldn't try getting around too much yet." She responds calmly. "I just wonder how everything looks... If it's still there and how I remember it. Been almost two weeks now, right?"
"Yeah... everything's pretty much the same..." He responds.
She resettles herself and then glances beside her knee, eyeing the edge of the envelope. She looks up at him to assess if he has seen it or not, before making a subtle attempt to cover it back up with the pillow.
He continues looking at her patiently. It was becoming more apparent he noticed something.
She sits quietly a moment, trying to figure out how to explain. "It's nothing..."
After a brief pause, he responds. "Then I can go ahead and put it on the pile over here for you..."
She sits quietly, thinking. "Yeah... sure, okay." She slowly pulls the envelope from the under the pillow, then offers it to him. Her hand is barely, but noticeably shaking a bit. "I must have missed it when I was sorting earlier..."
He takes the envelope. "Must have." He then flicks on end of the envelope toward himself, as he reaches to set it on the table.
She eyes the spot in which the envelope lands for a brief moment.
"I have to say that's the 'biggest' amount of nothing I've seen in a while..." He adds.
She looks up at him, and then down at her hands in her lap. "It's just... It was something I wasn't expecting."
He nods quietly, listening.
"It's uh... the results of the tests they ran... on my blood... It happened when I was in my coma. I don't know if the druids had it done or the Alliance, or whoever..." She says, leaning back on her pillow a bit somber. "Doran?"
"Yeah?" He responds.
She pauses a moment. "Did the nurses say anything about... a lot of bleeding in the days just after... the whole thing?" She softly mutters. "I just... need to know..."
"I hadn't been talking with the nurses... just know what I know myself." He replies.
She looks at him a bit concerned. "And... what did you notice?"
He takes a deep breath and looks down for a few moments, biting his lip. "I couldn't save everyone..."
She looks at him as water fills her eyes. She then slowly nods and looks up at the ceiling. She speaks soft and a bit strained. "I didn't even know..." She sniffs and wipes her face a bit. "I didn't want to believe the results..."
He stands and shifts slightly to sit on the bed, offering to take her good hand.
She looks down at their hands and then back up to him. Her face is a bit puffy and red now. "I had to ask..." Her voice breaks a bit.
He looks upset, feeling bad for the pain that she's feeling, and doesn't want to see her crying.
She eventually leans on his shoulder as her face scrunches into a full sob. Her crying is muffled from his shoulder.
He slips his arm around her gently and holds her, letting her cry. "I'm sorry..."
She shakes her head slightly, rolling on his shoulder. She speaks strained. "It's... not your... fault."
"It is... I had a clue that something might've been afoot with Amelia... I was gonna go in and try and pull her out of it. I let 'Laina talk me out of it. I could have prevented this..."
She lifts her head from his shoulder and shakes her head with her eyes closed. Her face is wet and red, sniffling a bit. "No... you did what you could to protect us. No one could have known for sure."
He still looks guilty.
She wipes her face and sniffs, trying to collect herself. "I'm was afraid to tell you about it..."
"Why?" He looks to her concerned.
"I didn't know how... you were going to take it." She sniffs and wipes her face again, sighing. She pauses for a moment. "I knew it was Baurus'." She says, looking down in her lap.
"And you thought I'd be... mad?" He asks.
"I wasn't sure how you would take it..." She responds softly. She then lays back on her pillow, staring out across the room. "I know that... things are in a weird spot between us... but I just want to say I'm sorry... And I don't know where I would be without your dedication to this place..." She sniffs as a tear trickles down her cheek, following the crease of her nose and onto the pillow.
"Ly, I would've helped you through the whole thing... Weren't nothing to be ashamed of... I just wanna help." He responds.
She closes her eyes and nods. A few more tears escape.
After a brief pause, he speaks. "Baked a fleet of cakes... ya' know. All that stuff."
She nods slowly, offering a weak smile. She then reaches for his hand and rubs gently, looking at him meaningfully and speaking quietly. "Thank you..."
He squeezes her hand gently. "Wish I could help more."
She gives him a thoughtful look. "You do more than you know for us already, Doran. I just hope we can all get out of this together."
"Trying... we're getting there." He replies.
"We will find him eventually... And we will make him pay." She adds.
"Double now... Rest of you lot better hope you have your best running shoes on... If I get him first, rest of you just get the scraps." He nods.
She nods slowly, gently rubbing his hand and looking at him from her pillow, silent and calm. "I guess everyone has been getting along alright?"
"Yeah... we're all getting by. Maybe a little worn." He responds.
"I hope all of this paperwork falling on Curlaina hasn't put her under a lot of stress." She thinks. "How is she doing? And Timory too?"
He pauses in thought. "I don't know, honestly. I hardly see her... either of them."
"Surely Curlaina is still around somewhere." She assures herself.
He nods. "I think so... She's been staying in her room a lot."
"She is just always so... quiet. I've been meaning to sit down with her and talk about how things are going with her position, and how she feels about it." She sighs briefly. "But all this happened..."
"It probably doesn't help any that she's confined here unless she has an escort." He adds.
She slowly nods. "I didn't want to, but I was afraid to lose someone else. I feel like both of the girls resent me for that."
"It's not an easy deal, no matter how you go about it." He responds.
She sighs for a moment in thought. "I just hope I'm doing right by them... I really do care about them."
He squeezes her hand. "I know..."
She gives him a subtle smile, before there is a pause. "I don't even know what I am now..."
"What do you mean?" He wonders.
"I thought the results would give me some clarity... but I'm still not a normal Human or a complete Worgen... It's just weird."
"Give it some more time... it'll clear up." He reassures her.
"You think the curse will ever be completely gone?" She looks at him, and uses her other hand to feel the scar on her shoulder.
"I think so... Might require another trip later on if it doesn't just clear up on its own, but you shouldn't be trying on the ol' fur and fangs at any point." He replies.
She nods. "The results were showing the curse slowly receding, but I just wonder if it will ever be the same..."
"I think so." He nods.
She pauses for a moment. "I never told you about the vision I saw, did I?"
"Nah." He subtly shakes his head.
She sighs briefly before starting. "There was this dark forest... leaves all over the ground and the wind was cold, whipping through the trees. I was laying on the ground, and heard the howling. It sounded like a whole pack of wolves were after me, and so I ran... I didn't know where to go, I just ran."
He nods and listens.
She continues. "I tripped on a tree root and they caught up to me... I was surrounded, and I just laid there... I closed my eyes, because I didn't want to see... and then I opened them again when nothing happened... I was back here... in this room, watching the attack all over again... Also, someone was there with me, talking with me. Someone I used to know and love very much."
He nods slowly.
"I just remember witnessing the attack all over again, and that's when I saw the bite... I was already out." She pauses. "He was talking to me about the attack and the warlock... but now I know it was just me all along, reasoning with myself. But something happened just before I lost him again... He said something that I've been thinking about for the past few days now..."
She looks over to him. "He mentioned stopping both of them... and in my vision, he was stabbed in front of me by... the same bitch that took him away. I don't know why I saw this... and I've been trying to make sense of it. I can't help but think that... what if this warlock and her are related in some way." She pauses again. "I know this probably sounds confusing on your end, but it's worrisome for me. He said I had to stop them, both of them..."
She trails off and lays silently in thought, sighing. "After this... I fell through the floor of this Inn, into what seemed like a dark pit that lasted forever..."
"That... would be strange." He adds.
"But I woke up back in the forest, and the wolves were still there... about to close in on me." She continues. "The alpha was first, and luckily I found a branch in the dirt next to me... I fought them all for my life."
"Hmm... Why did you accept death the first time, but fight the second?" He asks.
She shakes her head. "I guess, I just felt like I had to fight... I felt like I wasn't supposed to die there. I wanted to find out what he meant... what he said to me."
"But, you just agreed that it was you..." He reminds her.
She nods slowly. "I think so at least... but why would I think that? That part is what gets me..." She pauses. "Was it just the hope that I needed to find within myself to survive... or is there something more to it?"
"I have no idea..." He responds.
She nods silently for a moment. "I just... felt someone should know at least." She looks at him.
"Maybe after everything that happens you think someone's been feeding him information... Don't have a face to put to it, so you use another person who hurt you." He wonders.
"It could be." She nods and grips his hand, squeezing even though it's still a bit weak.
He squeezes back gently. "Yeah. Ly... about the injury. Are you going to tell her?"
"Amelia?" She asks.
He nods slowly.
"I don't plan to tell anyone I don't have to... I don't think it would be good on her, and this wasn't her fault." She replies.
"I understand that... Right now though, it's..." He scratches the back of his head in thought. "It might be worse keeping things from her... Lies of omission. It might reinforce what he told her... that made her paranoid of all of us."
"Then I will leave it up to you... Just let me know, okay?" She looks at him. "I don't want her to sink too deep, thinking she ruined everything... but she will need to be told in time."
Doran nods again. "She feels that way already... She's waiting to be rejected. Thrown away."
She sighs. "I will see her as soon as I'm able. She needs to know I still love her."
"If you want, I can walk you over there... carry you if need be." He offers.
She gently shakes her head. "I may wait for another night. I still need a bit of time to get my thoughts together... I've wanted to know what it means to be a mother... I just didn't expect for this to happen." She sniffs and wipes a tear. "But, I'll get past this... just like everything else I've had to face... I'll be okay..."
"Just hang in there a bit longer. Remember you've got folk here for ya'." He reassures her.
She rubs his hand and closes her eyes in a nod. "I know, and thank you... Thank you for taking care of me." She offers a weak smile.
"Anytime Ly... Try my best." He pauses briefly. "You want me to let you rest for a bit?"
She looks like some fatigue is starting to set in, and slowly nods. "I think so, but could you stay with me a while?" She looks across to him. "Just until I fall asleep?"
He nods and smiles. "You bet."
She smiles back a bit, laying her head on the pillow. She then gently rubs her thumb across the top of his hand, closing her eyes. After a few moments, her thumb stops and she seems to be drifting off.
He waits for a few more minutes before rising, adjusting her blanket and pillow before heading out quietly.
The Aftermath: Behind Her Eyes
Late Thursday night, after the Ravenholdt League Meeting...
When the two groups met back up at the main hall, they proceeded to the Inn to check on Amelia. Once everyone arrived upstairs, Doran entered first to make sure Amelia was awake and willing to see guests. Soon after, Skippio was sent in to see Amelia for the first time in months. Lycandria and the others followed shortly after.
After a few moments of Lycandria being in the room, Amelia notices and turns to her immediately. In a very short time frame, Amelia shifted into her worgen form and attacked Lycandria ferociously. Lycandria and the others were in shock, as she was thrown back against the wall and clawed. Amelia's companion Blindseer also jumped into the attack as commanded, as Electra, Skippio, Doran, and Derniv were attempting to stop them.
Lycandria's head was bashed and beaten against the wall, before Amelia finally clamped down on her left shoulder, biting hard. Lycandria was shaken and then eventually thrown back across the room, with her side landing on the corner of a large table, rolling to the floor. She remained bloody and broken on the floor for a short while, before passing out from the pain.
Everyone else worked tirelessly in order to contain the rage Amelia and Blindseer were exhibiting. Just about everyone was injured in some form or another, but the worst by far being that of Lycandria. Her injuries included a concussion, broken arm, broken ribs, and multiple gashes on her arms, legs, and torso.
As things started to settle down when Amelia and Blindseer were tranquilized, Curlaina came up to help Doran heal everyone. Doran focused on the injuries of Amelia, Blindseer, Electra, and Derniv, while Curlaina focused all of her effort on Lycandria. Both Amelia and Lycandria were moved to beds in separate rooms for their recovery, as well as bandaged and set on blood drips from the amount of blood loss.
After a few minutes later into the night, Lycandria began to show symptoms of a feral worgen bite. The league began to scramble and brainstorm a way to get her a cure or ritual as soon as possible. Lycandria remained unconscious throughout the night.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Lycandria rolls her head on the floor of the Inn, trying to process the pain and shock of the attack. Sounds and voices were fading, and the strength in her limbs and fingers following. She was losing blood at a rapid pace, broken and battered on the floor. Her eyes flutter for a moment, before her head finally turns and her eyes close. One last grunt leaves her lips, with a slow and struggling pulse.
Moments later once the scene had been secured, nurses and healers rush to attend the hurt; Curlaina and Doran among them. The Druids of the Talon from within the garrison also came in to provide any aid they could offer. Lycandria was carefully moved to the closest bed, and intensive healing was started. Once the wounds were closed enough to slow the bleeding, she was bandaged and set up for blood to be replaced.
Suddenly, Lycandria began to show symptoms of a feral bite. The druids quickly recommended the aid of the demigod Goldrinn in Hyjal, and the possibility to stop the manifestation of the curse before the form becomes irreversible. However, time was sensitive and they claimed she would likely only last until mid-day Friday; approximately twelve hours with the aid of their healing to slow the progression. Istera and a few of the druids were deployed to the Shrine of Goldrinn through her portal, in hopes of finding and bringing back what they needed to stop the curse in a timely fashion.
Lycandria slowly began to slip into a comatose stage, however within her mind tells of a different story...
--------------------------------------------------------------
Dark, hollow, and alone in the woods. The moon is high and howling can be heard in the distance. Lycandria finds herself laying on a bed of leaves on the ground, slowly getting to her feet. The air was heavy and hazy, and everything seemed damp and eerie. The wind gusts between the trunks of the forest, barren and unsettling.
Growls approach from the distance; the wolves were coming for her. Paws close in and rustle among the leaves. Lycandria runs in fear, turning into the darkness and hoping for a safe place to hide. Faster and faster she ran, but the wolves were gaining on her.
Suddenly she trips on a root near the base of a large tree, rolling to the ground and groaning in pain. She moves to get up quickly, only to see herself surrounded by the pack that was chasing her. She sighs and lays flat on the ground on her back, giving up. She had nowhere to go and this was it.
She closes her eyes as the wolves move in to claim her. She waited and waited... but something was different. They should have been there by now.
--------------------------------------------------------------
When Lycandria opens her eyes, she is no longer in the woods. She looks around to see her new environment. Somehow she was back at the room of the attack, but no one could see her. She was witnessing the scene from a whole new perspective. She then hears a voice not long forgotten... it was Beloric.
"It's nice to see you again." He says calmly.
She turns to him as tears fill her eyes. "Bel... you're here... but, you were taken... How is this..."
He quiets her. "It's okay, love. I have never strayed too far from your thoughts... and your heart." He then turns and smiles at her. "You have kept me here, and I will stay."
They both smile at each other and embrace, however she realizes that she can't remember his touch. It was absent despite what she saw. Their hands and arms connected, but it is nothing more than a mere shell of her memories. Too much time had passed.
She turns back to the scene, as Amelia attacks and throws her true self across the room. She leans down to gaze into her own face, filled with shock, pain, and fear.
She then looks back at Beloric. "Why are we here? Why must I see this?"
"We are here because you want us to be here." He responds.
Time advances to show Curlaina and the nurses and druids, as they pour into the room after Amelia and Blindseer had been contained. Lycandria is lifted to the bed and they begin to work on her.
"What did he do to her?..." She asks him.
"I fear this was always the plan... This warlock is bad news, love." He responds and turns to her. "He gave her back to you for a reason... This was her purpose, to kill you and destroy the league from within."
She looks over to her true self again, watching as the bite on her shoulder suggests something else is wrong. The infection slowly becomes apparent, as the others begin to shout about her condition. Doran comes over to her with a bit of panic.
She glances back at Beloric as Istera summons a portal in the background. "The bite... the wolves... what am I Bel? What have I become?... Am I a... worgen?" She grabs him fearfully, desperate for answers.
"They have gone to see if they can save you... The druids believe they can stop the worgen from manifesting within you, but I fear the curse will always remain." He says, attempting to reassure her.
"And if they fail..." She wonders.
He pulls her close and quiets her. "Shhh... Have faith in them love. They will not let their leader down."
She rests her face against his chest, wishing she could feel that long-lost touch he used to provide. She peers out at the aftermath of the attack. "We have to find him and stop him, Bel. We can't let this warlock continue with his plans... I'm afraid for everyone that still resides in the north... for the Wildhammers, and grandfather."
He gently combs through her hair and rocks her from side to side. "There will be a day Ly, but there is something else you need to know..."
She looks up to him with worry, moving a strand of his long hair from his face. "Yes?" She mutters softly.
"She is coming... She has returned." He responds.
"She... you mean..." She responds with a look of uncertainty.
He simply nods in a way she remembers vividly. Suddenly, a silhouette of Khasarah appears behind him and stabs through the chest. Blood pours from him as Lycandria falls backwards in horror.
Beloric speaks low and distressed. "You have to find me. You have to stop them both... They are coming."
She lunges forward towards him and the image of Khasarah, but suddenly the scene shifts to her falling through the floor of the Inn. She screams. "No! Bel! Wait! NOOO!!!" Her arms stretch out towards him desperately as she fades into the darkness.
--------------------------------------------------------------
She continues to fall into a pitch black abyss, until she reappears back in the dark forest and the wolf pack surrounding her. She sits up as the wolves growl at her ferociously, making their slow approach. Lycandria's eyes slowly gain their focus; a renewed fight filling her senses. Her hand searches the ground for something to defend herself, coming across a sizable branch buried in the dirt. The alpha wolf continues to close in on her from the front.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, a portal relapses back at the garrison as Istera and a few new druids return from the Shrine of Goldrinn in Hyjal by late morning. They make their way upstairs to Lycandria, with some kind of vial in their hands. As they enter the room, the nurses and healers make way for the druids to begin their work.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The alpha finally makes his daring attack, as Lycandria rips the branch from the dirt. She lets out a bellowing roar as she swings with all her might, slamming the branch into the alpha. The alpha whimpers for a brief moment, and then attempts to seize the branch from her grasp with his sharp fangs. Lycandria brings her elbow up to catch the alpha on the snout, grunting and fighting for her life.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The druids begin to channel their power, as Curlaina carefully lifts Lycandria's head enough to drink the vial. After the last drop is spent, Curlaina sets the empty vial aside and removes herself, letting the druids resume the ritual.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The alpha whimpers again, growling and barking at the others to attack. Lycandria notices the other wolves draw closer and attempts to get to her feet quickly. Two of the wolves look to pounce on her and bring her down, but one catches the swinging branch of Lycandria. The other lunges on her back and bites at her neck and shoulder, trying to rip and tear at the flesh.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The druids continue with the ritual, speaking over Lycandria in Darnassian as healing energy flows through her. The others in the room all watch and wait, hoping for the best for their leader.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The alpha regains himself and leaps at Lycandria. She suddenly spins as the wolf on her back bites down, yelling in pain. Blood gushes around the teeth of the wolf, trickling down Lycandria's chest. The alpha's bite is misplaced with the spin, clenching around the hind leg of the wolf on her back.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Curlaina notices the intense sweating from the fever of the infection, and tears a piece of cloth to dab Lycandria's forehead.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The wolf howls in pain, releasing the bite on Lycandria's shoulder and falling to the leaves. Lycandria reacts quickly to drive the branch down across the alpha's back. The alpha whimpers again, slumping to the ground as another wolf attempts to catch Lycandria off guard. She hears the wind shift and the motion of the wolf closing in, bringing her free hand around and bashing it against the wolf in flight.
The alpha takes advantage and clenches his fangs around her right ankle, attempting to drag her from her feet. Lycandria yells in pain and with all her strength, thrusts the point of her branch at the back of the alpha's skull. She repeats the attack several times until the alpha's grip loosens and the life leaves his body.
Lycandria turns to look at the other wolves as they snarl at her. She remains poised over the body of the alpha, and glares back at them. Two of the wolves remain motionless, while the others finally flee.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The druids finish their last portion of the ritual, as the glowing energy within Lycandria's body slowly fades. The druids then nod to each other as one places his hand on her lightly. He turns to Doran and nods. "It is done. I don't know when she will awaken, but remain ever watchful for the next few days. Call us again if you have need."
Doran returns the nod and thanks them.
The druids glance around the room at everyone and then leave the Inn, returning through Istera's new portal back to Hyjal.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Lycandria waits until the wolves are out of sight, glancing down at the branch and the alpha. She had done it; she had survived.
The branch falls from her grasp and she groans in pain, clearly shown on her face. She inspects her wounds and does her best to proceed through the forest, although she didn't know where to go.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone at the Inn eventually go their separate ways, but a few linger a bit longer. Some to pray, some to watch, and some because they don't know what else to do. Aside from the curse itself, their leader was still fighting for her life, comatose and still.
--------------------------------------------------------------
As hours pass by, Lycandria stumbles through the forest. Eventually she notices a log cabin in the distance. A lantern was lit from one of the windows, perhaps showing her the way back home.
Amelia’s Disappearance: Part 4 - Beyond the Portal
Malavis has his assistants inject Amelia with an unknown serum, as she pops through the portal. The assistants try to contain her with the needle finally emptying, just as Malavis enters and the portal collapses. The room seems like a very closed off laboratory, with a chair in the center of scattered vials and tables to the side. Potions are churning and bubbling.
Amelia immediately lets out a deep feral growl, roaring as she rips into his assistants. Clamping her jaws down on one's shoulder, she viciously shakes her head. She plunges her claws into its stomach and angles them both outwards as she rips through. She flings him into the other assistant and proceeds to essentially do the same to another.
After she's finished with them, she turns towards Malavis. Fire burning in her eyes, in half worgen form. She's growling and salivating at the muzzle, appearing to be studying Malavis and gauging his strength.
Malavis smirks at the carnage as more assistants race in. "Ah yes... just as I expected. Fierce... Ferocious... Unrelenting... Savage and feral. You are the perfect specimen for this... oh yes... perfect."
Amelia sees the assistants rushing in and sets about ravaging through them. Amelia speaks in a deep feral tone. "You are going to die a slow, painful death warlock!"
"You are certainly mistaken... you will succumb to MY will... and it all starts right now..." Malavis finishes with an evil smirk, watching as the assistants surround Amelia. He begins to cast some dark, demonic magic that is slowly waning Amelia's movements.
Amelia easily slashes through the newcomers like they're nothing, their dead and decaying Forsaken flesh doing little to stop her claws and teeth flurry. However, each swing eventually comes slower, each chomp with less force. The magic is slowly draining her even with her immense resilience.
A few large orcs finally come around the corner, as if waiting for the weakening to begin. The assistants seemingly nothing more than a fodder display to Malavis' liking. The orcs step in and look to restrain Amelia down to the chair, facing the ceiling. She is still giving quite a fight, but can't quite manage to get a meaningful blow to them at the moment. Malavis continues the spell until the final moment she is secured.
Even as the orcs restrain her, with the smell of fresh blood, she finally manages to clamp down on one of the orc's throats. She easily holds him in place as she drinks his blood, somewhat giving her enough strength to wrestle out of the others' grasp. She slits his throat but finally seems physically drained, slumping in the chair and giving a low growl as she watches the warlock.
Malavis tightens his grip with his spell, as Amelia slips down onto the table.
Amelia attempts to growl and thrash, though she's tiring considerably fast. She looks Malavis dead in the eyes as she rumbles. "You wont break me! I live for the pack! I won't betray them! I will die first you filth!"
"We shall see won't we?" Malavis cackles evilly and spawns demonical magical clamps around her limbs, restraining her movements and completing his channeled spell.
The bitten orc holds his throat, gasping for air and falling to the floor bleeding out. The two other orcs look at each other for a moment, then to Amelia as they drive fists into her chest. After a few blows, Malavis stops them as he approaches, ordering them to clean up the mess as he steps around various body parts on the floor. "I appreciate the decorations, this room always did need a bit of color..."
Amelia growls through the punches, snapping at their fists. As Malavis orders them to stop, one orc goes for a last punch. Amelia catches his fist in her maw and clamps down, locking her jaw. She begins to grind and chew on his hand before the other one punches her, making her release. She looks up at Malavis, swallowing the bits of hand in her mouth. "I can't wait to give it a 'personal' touch then. Maybe you'd like to be apart of it?" She snarls.
Malavis smirks. "I... admire your passion and your unrelenting will to get just the slightest of nibbles of me..." Suddenly a shot shoots into Amelia's back from beneath the chair, causing Amelia to go completely limp. "But the most you will ever do, is gaze upon the creator of your demise."
Amelia gives a sharp yelp as the needle shoots into her back. She snarls as sleep tries to take her. "You won't get anything from me or out of me! I'm ready to die for the pack! I always have been!" Before completely succumbing, she whimpers out. "Lycan and Skip'll get here. Then you'll..." Her head bobs. "...then you'll pay." Her head finally slumps over, and tongue lulls out.
"Not quite yet, my dear... but they will come soon enough..." Malavis then waits for her to be completely out, before muttering on. "When you are ready." He smirks deviously.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Malavis then moves off toward what seems to be a floating orb above a nearby table. It appears to be a framework of Amelia's mind in a magical projection.
He nods to a few assistants that were spared Amelia's wrath, looking much more professional. "Start the tap... We need to see where this girl lives, and transform the world she knows... The only thing she will know is hate... Hate for the woman who did this to her... the one who couldn't stop what's coming."
After a few moments, Malavis begins channeling through the orb and tries to find Amelia. He comes across a cabin, with a shape prowling around the outskirts of a clearing in a lavish forest. There is vague yelling, mixed with crying coming from the cabin. He continues to dive further into the vision, smirking a bit. "Oh... let us see what painful memories she hides..."
Inside the cabin, there's a young human Amelia in some sort of confrontation with what appears to be her mother. Words are fuzzy, but Amelia reacts angrily and starts to head outside. She opens the door and tries to rush out, but is knocked back by the same prowling figure from earlier in the vision.
The creature bites down on Amelia's shoulder, before she has any time to react. Her mother screams as the worgen shakes, and then releases Amelia into the bow rack next to the door. Amelia slumps to the ground. Her head bobbing about and left arm mangled.
The worgen starts towards her mother, but somehow Amelia lifts her head and grabs a bow and arrow. She stands up slowly, drawing to full before releasing. Her arm makes a horrible breaking noise.
The arrow flies as Amelia slumps in the door way, craddling her left arm with her right. She watches as the worgen sinks its teeth into her mother, and rakes its claws into her flesh. The arrow only nicks the worgen's muzzle, deflecting deep into the wood beam in front of the worgen and mother.
Suddenly, the vision swirls as Amelia snarls in her half worgen form. "I've moved past this filth! I've accepted what has happened in my past isn't my fault. That I gave everything when others would've already collapsed. Poking around here will give you nothing!" She snaps at Malavis, and the orb's image of her mind fades away.
Malavis smirks. "Oh dear, soon you will learn everything is relative." He laughs evilly, and channels through the orb once more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The orb slowly fills again with the image of Amelia as a worgen. She is with a pup and hiding in shrubbery watching something from afar. The orb rotates so that a barn and house is in view. On the porch of the house is a couple with their child; a girl of maybe ten and her parents.
Suddenly the mother's neck gushes blood from an arrow, now sticking out of it. The little girl lets out a scream as the father hides her. He then roars angrily, picking up his short sword and buckler, scanning for the attacker.
The pup quickly races toward the porch, and launches himself at the father. He braces himself and bashes at the pup. He overextends and leaves himself wide open, just as an arrow strikes him in the heart. The man falls and eventually bleeds out, leaving only the little girl on the porch.
Amelia approaches the porch and stands over her, fire in her eyes. The little girl is understandably frozen with fear. Amelia's muzzle closes around the child, as she begins to eat her alive.
The orb swirls again to reveal Amelia snarling. "I was angry at everything! Why did she get this happy life while I didn't?!" Her ears lie flat against her head. "I was wrong and I regret most of what I did my first year turned." Amelia snarls again. "But my past is what made me into what I am, and I'm not ashamed of who I am now! You won't break me! I 'will' die before I betray the pack. Lycan took me in when no one else would! She helped me, cared for me, confided in me, so she means so much more than you could fathom filth!"
The orb fades again as Malavis smirks at his assistants. "That is enough for now, continue the drip throughout the night and monitor her brain activity. Even the mightiest cave over time..." He cackles. "The pride and strong will of this one will make it so much sweeter."
