ok so summerween party ideas keep getting reduced to "pool party but halloween" online and that's really only one version of it, so broke down 5 different ways people are actually doing this.

the pastel goth picnic is exactly what it sounds like if you were on tumblr in the early 2010s: same dark halloween imagery, skulls, ghosts, bats, just recolored in baby pink and lavender instead of black. cupcakes frosted pastel, skull cookies iced sky blue, little pumpkins repainted instead of left orange. genuinely one of the easier ones to pull off once you pick a color and stick to it.

the gravity falls one goes back to where summerween actually started, it's from an episode where the town just throws a second halloween in summer instead of waiting for october. so the "authentic" version of this party is honestly just a watch party: put the episode on, carve watermelons into jack-o-lanterns instead of pumpkins, serve ice cream and cold food instead of anything heavy, dress as the characters if you're into that.

campfire horror night is the one that leans into the actual "telling scary stories outside" setting horror movies love so much, bonfire, s'mores, a cooler full of cold drinks, bug spray so you survive it. spirit halloween's physical stores don't open till august but their site runs year round so finding real halloween candy for this one isn't hard even now.

the retro version picks a decade (80s, 90s, early 2000s, whatever) and builds everything around it, vintage-style decorations, horror movies from that era if you want scares, or stuff like Halloweentown or Twitches if you'd rather keep it nostalgic and not actually scary.

and yes, the haunted pool party exists too, it's just one of five, not the default definition of summerween like a lot of posts make it seem. sun, a pool, cold drinks, halloween colors layered on top, genuinely the lowest effort one on this list 🎃
