To me, LN takes place in a fictional world that happens to look like ours and that’s it! Unless there’s actual proofs, we’ll never know if our countries are in this world (lorewise).

By the way, a bit off-topic from the ask but I genuinely saw people making assumptions that Otto and Noone were british bc of their accent from the podcast, which bugs me since The Sound Of Nightmares came out in different translations… I’m not fond of headcanons expecting LN to have english as a default language because there’s no reason for it.

Beyond Puffballs, what creatures, or items, are related to Void? Do any of these critters possess an awareness of their origins from the primordial chaos?

Dark Matter can also be created from Void when it absorbs negative energy instead of positive.

And Warp Stars are fragments of Void's power that are often left over after creating a puffball (which is why they have a special bond).

As for the ones Void creates, no, they don't have any idea where they came from or how they get to where they are now. Void has only recently been rediscovered and no one fully knows its relation to light and dark matter creatures other than it was once worshiped as a dark god of destruction.

The Outer Gods really are just a bunch of colonists playing tug of war to get control of the territory they want, if you ask me. The second the Greater Will goes quiet "suddenly" all the Outer Gods spring up again to take advantage of the power vaccum.

Lmfao yeah. I'd halfheartedly argue that it might be for their survival, like in Hollow Knight, but honestly after digging more into the shitshow that is the politics of the Outer Gods, I genuinely cannot see their struggles as anything but a desire for power and a concept of shaping the world into their personal vision, the lives of the inhabitants be damned. It's honestly not that different from the gods of Dark Souls, who were all so focused on their pantheon of the Lightsoul/fire and what to do with it that they just made everything go to shit by accident, so you have to go around and kill them to bring them all back in line.

I think that the only one that's even vaguely close to being a nonissue might be the light/dark moons, but I honestly can't even tell if those are Outer Gods in the sense of sapient schemers like the Formless Mother or the Rot Goddess or if they're just seen as such because they're massive natural phenomena that Empyreans like Ranni can channel.

Can't wait to eventually get your headcanons on every Soulsborne Ring character there is. Only found your blog recently after plowing through DS1 and 3 the last few weeks and you make the world of Dark Souls look so much... Friendlier, then it usually does. Very good stuff.

They're amazing games, aren't they? I remember I beat all three within aaaaaaa month? I was so hooked I couldn't put them down.

"Friendly" definitely isn't a word that can describe Soulsborne as a whole, that's for sure! 😂 But with storytelling, I really like to focus on both the softer and kinder moments, as well as the harder and more cruel. Our comic will absolutely have times of humor and good-feels, but the angst that Dark Souls provides will absolutely be there too. I think it's important to balance those when you tell a lengthy story. That's one of the reasons people get so darn attached to the NPCs, as they can make you laugh or give you relief after fighting hordes of monsters and being alone. There's also those absurd moments like the giant mushrooms who punch you or the man-serpents getting run over with the boulders in Sen's Fortress! 🤣🤣
