thinking abt not just baelor but maekar and his maekarlings coming to the modern world too 😓 daeron would love how many pubs england has, london specifically. mixed feelings on aerion, leaning towards him disliking it because he holds no real power there. maekar is stressed 24/7 trying to find them.

god forbid aerion ever watches how to train your dragon live action, he wants those dragons, what do you mean theyre cgi???

puh-lease daeron would absolutely thrive in england i’m sorry. the moment he realizes how many pubs and nightclubs there are in london he’s done for. man would be like “finally, a civilized land.” you’d lose him for hours and then just find him happily talking to random strangers over a pint.

maekar on the other hand would be stressed out of his mind. like imagine him trying to keep track of all his sons in a world he doesn’t understand. cars everywhere, lights, crowds, noise… and meanwhile his children are just wandering off. he’d be on the verge of a breakdown trying to find them like where are my sons, what is this place, why are there metal carriages moving without horses 😭

Maekar in a nutshell :

aerion would honestly be so divided about the modern world 😭 on one hand he’d be like oh wow that’s actually impressive whenever he sees technology … cars, tall buildings, lights everywhere, machines doing things that would look like sorcery to him. but then five minutes later he’d remember that nobody is bowing to him or calling him “your grace” and he’d be absolutely offended.

like imagine him walking around london and people just… ignore him. no curtsying, no kneeling, no titles. he’d be internally fuming like do these people not realize who i am??? and the way some ppl would probably call him an albino bc of the silver hair and pale features 😭 he’d be deeply insulted.

but yh anything dragon-related would immediately catch his attention. movies, books, statues, documentaries : he’d be obsessed with it. he’d constantly ask questions like where the dragons are, why people are hiding them, why no one is riding them.

and plz imagine explaining the concept of airplanes to him….. you’d be like “those are planes” and he’d just stare at the sky watching a massive metal thing flying and immediately be like so… a dragon

egg on the other hand… give that kid an ipad and it’s over. he’d absolutely become an ipad kid at some point, discovering games, cartoons, videos …. completely fascinated by everything. maekar would probably be horrified seeing his son glued to a glowing screen for hours

Obviously we've seen what happens when a modern person is dropped in AKOTSK. Do you have any funny thoughts about what would happen if things were reversed, like Baelor ending up in Anicia/Reader's house instead?

oooooh girl he’d be fascinated 😭 but also completely freaked out at the same time, and obviously VERY worried about the fact that he just left the realm like that. his brain would be split between pure curiosity and absolute panic

like internally he’d just be going: i need to get back, i need to get back, i need to get back bc in his mind he abandoned his duties, the realm, his family AKA his everything. meanwhile the modern world would be hitting him with a thousand things at once

he’d be like: i need to get back, i need to get back, i need to get back — meanwhile discovering what a microwave is — i need to get back, i need to get back — then finding out about toilets and tv — I NEED TO GET BACK 😭

(i also feel like he’d be really fascinated by the politics of the modern world too. since anicia lives in london, he’d be especially intrigued by the fact that england still has a monarchy… but one that doesn’t actually hold real governing power.

that alone would probably confuse him a lot at first 😭 the idea that there’s still a king and a royal family, but that the actual ruling is done by a government and elected officials. i feel like he’d ask a million questions about how that works.

like he’d def be comparing it to westeros in his head — trying to understand how a realm can function with a monarch who’s more symbolic while the political decisions are handled by others. honestly he might even start taking mental notes about certain aspects of it.

part of him would probably be impressed by the stability of that system, while another part of him would be like… so the king just lets other people rule??? voluntarily??? 😭)

i’m actually curious about something: if anicia had ended up in the game of thrones era instead of baelor’s time, who would u guys ship her with??? 👀

i genuinely want to know bc i feel like the answers would be all over the place. personally, i think her dynamic would change a lot depending on who she met first and under what circumstances. some characters she’d absolutely clash with, while others she’d get along with surprisingly well.

so yh i’m curious … if anicia had landed in westeros during the main game of thrones timeline, who would you ship her with and why???

have you all considered the fact that anicia is, like, divorced back in her world???? 😭 i keep imagining the moment she finally tells baelor the truth about herself and mentions that she was married before.

and baelor’s immediate reaction would probably be, “so he’s dead?”

and she’s like, “uh, no. we’re just divorced. he remarried.”

then baelor just stares at her because the concept of divorce basically doesn’t exist for him. so in his mind he’s like, “wait… you’re still married?”

and she’s like, “no, we’re literally not.”

i don’t know, the whole thing is so funny to me because not only would he obviously be jealous, but he’d also be genuinely confused. like, “if your husband is still alive, are you actually free to marry someone else? can we even marry?” 😭 the cultural misunderstanding alone would be hilarious

I am so happy that Maekar get called out. I applaud her to say it to his face. Inbred freak! This is so *chef kiss*. But I also like their banters, it was hilarious.

Also kudos to the witch lady. Yes, I don’t like Reptile 🦎 is such a nice sentence to put it. From a mighty dragon to a reptile. Hehehehe

I also love how you portray Aerion..so realistic and the scene just make me chuckling. The prince would be confused why his papa let this peasant touch him and even sided with her.

But the conversation on the ride was really hurt though..and hurt even more that Maekar was not even lying. There was high possibility that Baelor would not even care. Ouch…

But the plot twist omg..what do you meannnnnn the blood magic 🩸!?!? I am screaming. You shook my heart for both chapters ma’am 😭

What would be of her now? Would all her knowledge from the old world disappear too? Nothing is scary like abandoning your own self. You teased meeeee. I don’t want to put pressure on you or anything but don’t leave me hanging 😭😭

calling maekar (or any targaryen) inbred to their face has been on my bucket list for so long, so i was very happy i finally got to use it lol 😭

and aaaah thank you so sooo much!! i was genuinely stressing bc i was scared ppl wouldn’t like the outcome with her using witchcraft in the end.... it kind of goes against what she’d been preaching about not doing in the first place… but i needed a reason for her to feel guilty and for her to end up stuck in that universe. there’ll definitely be more explanations later about why she’s trapped there in the first place !!!

in the OC version she actually goes to see the forest witch more often. like i mentioned in the latest reader chapter, that old woman is pretty well known around ashford meadow and the village. lady ashford goes to her for tarot readings, and the servants and stable boys know her for this nightshade cream she makes — it helps with scars and dulls pain so they can go back to work faster

and fun fact: the witch was partly inspired by miss spink from Coraline — you know the whole “oh coraline, coraline, you are in terrible danger!” vibe 😭 obvi mine is less glamorous and sparkly, but that was definitely the starting inspiration

oooooh and aerion… our dear little monstrous menace........

in my more fleshed-out OC version, anicia (or reader here) actually becomes very close with Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg. she meets them by accident when she accompanies lady siena ashford (valarr’s love interest) into the meadow and they stumble upon a hedge knight and his squire in lady siena's “secret” spot. after that, anicia, starts bringing them food whenever she can, buying egg sweets, going with him to watch the dragon puppet shows… she basically becomes their friend, and honestly kind of a motherly figure to them

she does meet aerion a few times too (i mentioned it briefly in the one-shot) but he’s an absolute menace. the kind who would purposely spill wine so she has to clean it. and he definitely notices that his uncle Baelor seems oddly interested in this random servant woman

and yh… aerion isn’t going to be gentle with her at all. like his father (and honestly like baelor in some ways too) he’s still a targaryen. noble or cruel, they all carry that same arrogance somewhere. so aerion absolutely won’t be pleased that fate brought this peasant healer into his orbit.

and then there’s the big question: would baelor actually care about her?

we know he cared enough for dunk… but dunk was a knight. anicia/reader is just a servant, occasionally acting as a healer for highborn people. so would he risk anything for her? maybe..... maybe not.....

maekar thinks he knows the answer. in his mind, his brother is honorable, yes — but he’s still a targaryen, and the heir to the iron throne. he has responsibilities. so why would he care about a servant who saved him? maekar probably assumes baelor would just reward her with gold and thanks and move on.

what he doesn’t know is that baelor and anicia actually had a bit of a connection before the trial — at least in the OC version. they talked more, built a sort of healer-and-patient relationship… maybe even a small friendship.

and funnily enough, maekar once joked to his brother to “just fuck her already” so she could take the stick out of his ass 😭 brotherly love, right? and yh… blood magic is technically in the mix now. which feels very targaryen-appropriate

I saw the ask about Baelor being the one to cross worlds and now I’m honestly hoping you write like, an AU one shot of Wide Awake with that premise. It truly would be chaos and Baelor would have a simultaneously awful (oh shit he needs to go back!) and marvelous time (and you can just… access any information you want, anywhere, anytime? You call it the internet?)

I think he would be able to acclimate a little to the place. At the very least he would keep his cool.

You know who wouldn’t?

Maekar.

Oh my god imagine Maekar barging into Anicia’s life. Prince Maekar “I am the Blood of the Dragon” Targaryen. I can only hope Baelor will be able to keep him on a short leash because that man is getting himself (and his brother probably) arrested within the hour they show up.

maekar pointing a valyrian dagger at a random police officer would immediately escalate into absolute chaos 😭 like he wouldn’t even hesitate : “you dare lay hands on me? i am blood of the dragon, son of king daeron the good — THE ANVIL — ” meanwhile random officers are just like :

👮👮 : “sir… are you under the influence?” and his colleague is radioing backup like “yeah… we’ve got an albino guy in cosplay threatening people with a weapon”

and baelor would immediately spiral, not even about the tech at first … he’d be like “wait — if i’m here, then who’s in westeros? who’s ruling? who’s handling the realm??” duty first, panic second 🫡 but once he realizes he’s… stuck? oh he’d turn into the most curious man alive. everything would fascinate him:

• cars = “horseless carriages powered by… fire? lightning??”

• planes = he’d genuinely think it’s sorcery or some kind of dragonless flight and be both in awe and slightly offended

• the concept of hospitals = he’d be stunned

• schools = this one would actually hit him. the idea that everyone can learn to read and write, regardless of birth, would probably shake his whole worldview a bit

• phone/internet: baelor discovering google?? over for everyone. he’d fall into a rabbit hole of history, politics, even religion. like imagine him reading about how monarchies evolved …. maekar would hate it “this device knows too much.”

• tv/movies: maekar getting mad at action movies because “that man would not survive that wound.”

• fashion: I feel like baelor would adapt quicker, maybe still leaning toward classic styles…

• law & authority: HUGE culture clash. maekar would not understand modern law enforcement at all. like “you mean to tell me this man can arrest a prince???” and “WDYM the death penalty is now illegal??” baelor would try to respect it but still be internally confused by how power works

• religion: baelor would be fascinated by how faith evolved, the diversity, the lack of one dominant doctrine like in westeros … might even question things

• maekar vs modern men: he’d be judging EVERYONE. “this is what men have become???” meanwhile getting humbled by like… basic things

OH ‼️ and the idea of baelor on the london underground is killing me 😭 just standing there, trying to look composed while internally he’s like “we are traveling beneath the earth in a metal beast…”

but yh maekar would be pure chaos. zero patience, zero adaptability. him and baelor together in the modern world would be a disaster waiting to happen 😭 it really would give early Ron Weasley in the muggle world

Excuse the nerdiness on main but the best way to describe Baelor as a person is he’s a slytherin who understands the phrase you’ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Like reality is he is cunning, ambitious, resourceful, strategic, clever, and values his heritage it’s literally textbook. The key to it is he makes it all sound pretty and kind and that’s why people love him

And to be clear none of that is a bad thing, that’s just the depth of his character and I think it’s so overlooked all the time. He’s not Prince Charming like so many people pretend he is and I think if more people were willing to delve into his character there would be far more plot opportunities than people realize

But that’s just my take :)

AND YOU’RE TOTALLY RIGHT AGAIN!!!! i think there’s maybe a tiny sprinkle of Gryffindor in him like, that ridiculous, sometimes reckless bravery but at his core, he’s pure Slytherin. he’s cunning, ambitious and deeply focused on maintaining the image of his family, even tho the dragons (aka the source of their real power, their nuclear weapons) are long gone..... so he def takes his heritage extremely seriously and every move he makes, every decision, is shaped by that sense of legacy and responsibility

and yes, when ppl try to write a “dark Baelor” most miss the mark. the character’s real complexity isn’t about being brooding or cruel : it’s abt his intellect, how he sees the world and how being a Targaryen informs every aspect of his personality. layer on top of that the Martell blood and you get a doubled-down sense of pride, ambition, and intensity. he’s not just a flawless Prince Charming, no, he’s flawed and principled, very proud and sometimes frustratingly human. that’s exactly why i love him bc all those traits make him feel alive and multidimensional ;)
