They are going to beat Mario to death!
While I’m active for a moment, I want to show that Blockhopper was scrapped from Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story! It may have been scrapped early or was only intended to be an NPC that you talk to. It seems to be missing its bricks it usually has on its head for some reason.
Credit to CreativelyNamedUser on Spriter’s Resource for the sprites!
Name: Blockhopper
Debut: New Super Mario Bros.
Back in the days of Super Mario Bros. 3, we got these little dudes called Pile Driver Micro Goombas (they don’t really deserve their own entry). Even though they’ve got a weirdly specific name they’re a simple enemy- a Micro Goomba that hides in a block. The idea of having fake enemy blocks is fun, but it makes me wonder why it wasn’t a brand new enemy. Surely they could’ve just given it eyes and maybe some little cartoon boots. Would that be too much to ask for?
But New Super Mario Bros. DS! You always come through for me. For whatever reason the Blockhoppers really stuck with me as a kid, even though they only appear in one level. Maybe it’s because they’re cute little robots. Or maybe it’s because they’re kinda jerks.
Here’s something I just found out: in Korean, they’re called Dance Blocks! They just love to DANCE! They’re sick with the dancing fever! It’s their life’s passion.

Decided to make a Minecraft version of the Blockhopper from NSMB!
The first one is based on the original design and uses the same palette, while the other 3 are "Minecraftified" (top-left is a Mangrove Swamp-themed Overworld version, bottom-left is Nether, bottom-right is End)
