Quick impressions of Block Three Fickle Mistress Dry-Hopped Sour (one of the selections from the latest Brew Box delivery): A nice combination of sour white grape, peach, tangerine, and Mayer lemon, with a mildly tart finish that has a hint of lychee on the back of the palate. Block 3 Sugar Bush Brown Ale - 4.8% ABV. This was the beer that introduced me to Block 3 and I knew then I had to go back and try the rest. It's deep red-brown and fizzy with an off-white head. The nose has malty notes of brown bread and a woody, maple aroma and a hint of coffee. The taste is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The malts are toasty with notes of brown bread and hints of chocolate and smoke. The maple isn't too sweet because the sugars in maple ferment very easily, removing a lot of the sweetness, but leaving behind a delicious woody flavour.
