Because of some things that occurred yesterday, I am making the following changes this week:
1. Today is Sam Reid Tuesday, tomorrow Assad Zaman Wednesday and Thursday will be a special Jacob Anderson Thursday (as a do over).
2. I will start holding posts for the day of the person it is about if at all possible.
3. No negative posts about that person on their “day”. It is only about celebrating and honoring them.
4. With love, I need Sam fans to please check ourselves. Stop comparing how Sam is treated verses Jacob (especially by the industry)—it is clear that there is a level of awareness that is missing and when we say this stuff, we sound insensitive to racial dynamics without meaning to. It is my job to make this blog a safe place for everyone. SO—I will be editing posts a little more to do that.
5. When I edit posts, I will acknowledge that I edited them and will put the post in italics if I can’t simply black out sentences.
To my international and melanin-light readers: If you want to know why I am doing this, I will tell you that the news in the US is grim right now. Brown and black people are being kidnapped and brutally unalived daily… 🧊 is buying incinerators for detention centers. Right wingers are signaling a goal to overturn the 14th amendment. There seems (to me) to be a lot of anxiety and feelings of powerlessness that are spilling over into the fandom. For a lot of people this show, and Jam, represent something bright and beautiful (or at least reliable and grounding). I want to do my part to filter that a bit better while people/things regulate a bit more.
Banned people/topics will stay banned. Don’t try me; my block button will be used more liberally leading up to the premiere.
Jammers may be seated in the front row. 😉
