Want to change the world - start with changing politics

The world’s in a bad way. Climate change threatens to make it uninhabitable. Ebola, if unchecked, could remove a large percentage of the inhabitants before an unfriendly environment gets the chance. Police no longer seem to have the mission to ‘serve and protect,’ but rather to ‘control and dominate.’ You have to wonder how we came to such a condition.

On this Blog Action Day: Let's talk about #inequality

I did not want to choose just one area where inequality matters the most, so I thought we should talk about global inequality.

On this Blog Action Day let's think about how different our lives would be should we have born to some other country where

- there is limited or no access to sufficient health care

- there is no access to quality education

- citizens have no political rights

- children are forced to work

- girls aren't allowed to make decisions about their lives

etc.

Talking #Inequality for #BAD2014

I suspect the term inequality brings up different things for different people depending on age, gender, race. ethnicity, background and other defining qualities we have as human beings on this planet. For me, the word inequality brings to mind the wage gap between men and women in the United States. While I am certainly thankful to have the opportunity to work for myself and lead a comfortable life on my own terms, it boggles my mind that women in this country still don’t earn equal pay.
