Do the rubies really deserve it though?. They were doing their job and were willingly trying to make the most peaceful solution, they even agreed playing baseball. They were more reasonable than Peridot or Lapis. They never commit genocide but Steven put more effort protecting the lives of the Diamonds, than rescuing the rubies (even worse after his "if we kill other gems we are just as bad as the diamonds")

Huh...yeah you're right. The rubies didn't deserve to float in space for eternity until they eventually fall into a sun or a black hole.
