I always thought it was so weird that people are into the whole blueberry inflation thing (myself included). I think it’s this specific case where it can be traced directly to one piece of media: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Looking back, there’s plenty of children’s shows and movies that have weird things that may have triggered some fetishes in us during our adolescence, but I can think of multiple places where certain kinks pop up. A lot of shows had the “all the characters get fat” episode (I always remember the Fairly Odd Parents and Totally Spies ones), it was a common trope to alter a character’s shape or size; there were episodes where a character grows to be super tall, super tiny, muscular, or just otherwise transforms into an undesirable state in so many cartoons, a lot of people point to The Jungle Book for that hypnosis scene, as well. Furries of course can be traced to anything with anthropomorpic animals (Zootopia is gonna be an awakening for this new generation, I swear). But a lot of these things already existed in some capacity, but the blueberry stuff is rooted exclusively in the original 1971 movie and it’s 2005 remake. The latter definitely ended up getting my interest a lot more, probably because they made Violet singnificantly larger and rounder in that version. It’s really just a curious phenomenon, I think fetishes in general are a very interesting topic. I can’t think of any other kink that’s really this specific in its origin.
