Witch of Blood

A Witch of Blood chooses to embody specific elements of promises, responsibilities, relationships, and camaraderie despite being surrounded by much of it, their entire identity built from scratch and fine-tuned the way they want it to be. They lack experience with impulse, freedom, adaptability, and independence, often seeking and studying what they can find of it in case it's something they can add to themselves. This means they're certain in themselves, but can be quite picky and biased (towards themselves) people, embodying what they like of Blood and discarding what they don't like in favor of Breath.

A Witch of Blood (A) chooses to embody promises and responsibilities from their surroundings, always looking things to do and a way to fulfill themselves. They lack experience with impulse and freedom, seeking and studying such things to help steer themselves in a direction they'd like. This means they often change what kind of responsibilities they take on and what promises they make, and until they grow tired of such things, they won't be able to truly define freedom for themselves.

Witch of Blood (B)

A Witch of Blood (B) chooses to embody relationships and camaraderie from their surroundings, preferring to kick back and have fun with others. They lack experience with flexible adaptability and personal independence, seeking and studying such things to help steer themselves in a direction they'd like. This means they often change their relationships until they can find a balance between camaraderie and independence, through which they can adapt to the demands of their relationships for themselves.

Bard of Blood

A Bard of Blood avoids promises and relationships, and thus destroys any responsibilities and camaraderie they were supposed to have. They rely on themselves for freedom and go looking for more when they feel their relationships are getting more serious or deeper than surface level. This means they're scared of or hate being tied down, constantly seek out independence, and thus don't know how to responsibly navigate their relationships.

im VERY interested to hear your thoughts on the blood aspect... its one that i think is taken very much at face value, and is somewhat limited in the traits often ascribed to it (responsibility, heritage, friendship).

Though we have canonical explanations for the Aspects, you're correct in that they often get reduced down to face-value. It was a problem I encountered myself in my early analyses; human beings are multi-faceted, and thus, so are these aspects which are meant to represent many concepts within humanity as a whole. That was something I had to learn to ascribe to my classpect analyses.

My analyses now use four keywords I whittled down from the canonical descriptions as well as the wider concept I understood it to convey. This is an attempt to portray these aspects as multi-faceted as opposed to what is commonly done in flattening them down into only one concept. (IE, "Blood = Friendships, Breath = Independent, Light = Smart, Mind = Logic, Hope = Religious, Rage = Anger", and so on. These words aren't necessarily wrong, but they're definitely not right either, and they definitely don't fit everyone within those aspects. They do not encapsulate the full scope of the aspect as a whole, which means they do not encapsulate the full scope of whatever classpect they are applied to, which then provides a flat, confusing, or biased classpect analysis.)

From The Extended Zodiac, I pulled these keywords from the Blood Aspect description. These would be the "canon" traits; they are what I adhere to when analyzing, but it should also be understood that this concept encompasses much more to do with than these keywords. Its "vibe", if you will, is much more than what is written.

TEZ Blood Keywords: Bonds, trust, camaraderie, groups, inspirational, relationships, friends and allies, charismatic, uplifting, magnetic, (sullen, unkind, set-in-their-ways)

None of the above traits are inherently good or inherently bad. The Blood Aspect, like all the other aspects, is inherently neutral; it is neither good nor bad, but merely a representation of a concept we experience as human beings.

I will say that responsibility is definitely a core trait of the Blood Aspect, but the aspect should not just be limited to that trait and its synonyms. Responsibilities, promises, relationships, camaraderie, community, bonds, connections; these things are what Blood is about. The ties that bind and the blood of the covenant are strong themes for the Blood Aspect.

I would personally say that Blood is what drives humanity, community, and many cultures. That is not to then say that Breath, its inverse, has no place in humanity either; too much of anything is never a good thing, and these aspects have inverses to balance them out accordingly. This is also part of why I so strongly believe inverse classpecting is important to consider as well, as you must be aware of how you should balance to be able to balance, but I digress.

Blood does not just value the relationships they have. They can also be the core of their friend groups, the thing keeping their family members together or in touch, so on and so forth. I believe that particular concept is termed "Unity". They bring people together, which is very powerful.

This is why Karkat, as a Knight of Blood (Active Utilizer), was able to bring twelve extremely different and difficult people (including himself) together long enough to succeed at an extremely convoluted, long game session. Kankri on the other hand, as a Seer of Blood (Passive Knower), was not experienced in his aspect and wasn't able to bring his friend group together a long while before they decided to scratch, but that did not mean he wasn't trying; as inane as Kankri's rants were, they were founded from his understanding of Blood as someone who only understood it from the point of view of the Breath aspect. Had Kankri reached godtier as a Seer of Blood and fully properly understood the Blood aspect, I believe he could have succeeded in the same fashion Karkat was able to.

Prince of Blood

A Prince of Blood has little to no control over their relationships and responsibilities, which means they will destroy any they deem to be harmful either out of frustration or to protect themselves, and their threshold for this tolerance tends to be low. They rely on their friends/family for their independence because they cannot control or grasp the responsibilities in their lives. This means they often get hung up or stuck when their reliance on others for independence doesn't work out, and they often have trouble finding the right path forward on their own.

Allocate - Too Little Value towards Blood

A player who craves [Responsibilities and Camaraderie] due to a lack of it, and thus actively takes it from others, hoarding [Promises and Relationships] to benefit themself and/or their circumstances

A Thief of Blood lacks responsibilities and camaraderie in their life, resulting in a fierce desire to possess such things for themself and leading to them not understanding the value of promises and relationships, as they take responsibilities and camaraderie from others and hoard it all to themself for their own benefit.

Thieves take their aspect, either craving it fiercely from their lack of it in their lives or simply because they like it, stealing and hoarding it all for themselves and their own personal benefit. Despite their outward confidence with their aspect, they often take it at face-value without learning of its true value, being unsatisfied with how much of their aspect they hoard and craving more and more. Their challenge is to focus less on attaining and more on learning about the value their aspect, as well as to let others have their aspect and learning why it is important to others.

Inverse Classpect Analysis of Thief

Thief of Blood: Blood (Promises, Responsibilities, Relationships, Camaraderie) is acted upon. Too little value towards aspect gives means to allocate it away from others, taking it for care of the self.

Inverse: Page of Breath

Breath (Impulse, Adaptable, Freedom, Independence) passively utilizes itself in the Thief as they actively undervalue Blood (Promises, Responsibilities, Relationships, Camaraderie) to take it.

Skill of Breath (Impulse, Adaptable, Freedom, Independence) is used as the Thief undervalues Blood (Promises, Responsibilities, Relationships, Camaraderie) to take it.

This is the base analysis. I do not take Lunar Sway into account when doing these; I prefer to leave it up to the individual how their Lunar Sway may affect their classpect, as Lunar Sway is quite vague and there can be a great number of interpretations!

A Mage of Blood is almost constantly experiencing the process and results of relationships and promises made by the people around them in their surroundings, which gives them a unique understanding of how responsibilities and camaraderie can help a situation... or hurt a situation.

Mages are flooded with their aspect, uniquely experiencing both the good and the bad of it. As a result, they gain a unique understanding of what their aspect is or does, often resenting it or becoming jaded and frustrated with it, but never rejecting it. Their challenge is to become open to new insight or different perspectives than their own.

They value freedom so much that they give away their own freedoms to their chosen friends/family, loyal to them and them alone. This often means they are prone to be taken advantage of, for they value the freedom of their friends/family so much that they shackle themselves to give it to them.

Hello! So, I wanted to know this: What's your take on the Seer of Blood? Your analyses on classpects and how they interact is pretty fascinating to read!

Thank you! The Seer of Blood is a canon classpect that belongs to Kankri, and I will say that one of the things that got me into classpecting as a whole was how... flatly the dancestors were written as characters. I figured that looking at their classes would help to ascribe some deeper meaning to them than how they were portrayed in canon, and I believe wholeheartedly that I am right about that.

A Seer of Blood is surrounded by impulse and independence, and lacks responsibilities and camaraderie in their life, and as a result are driven to learn everything they can about how promises and relationships work in order to understand what they previously lacked.

Seers study their aspect, craving knowledge of it from their previous lack of it. They seek knowledge of their aspect with a fierce intensity in order to gain more understanding of it, acknowledging the potential consequences of doing so and dealing with them later. Their challenge is to learn how to translate their insight and knowledge into action and decision, as well as learn how to manage their engagement with their aspect so as to not overwhelm themself or others.
