Can I cosplay your design of bloodswap nepeta?

Okay, quick question, if Aradia is a purple blood in bloodbent, would her religious bases and stuff be more like that of the original Gamzee? Or has that changed as well?

Bloodbent kind of runs on the assumption that Homestuck mysteriously stopped updating around the beginning of act 5.2–anything that’s been revealed since then is null and void, and it runs off assumptions I made about the game and characters at that point in time. Every time I talk about Aradia or Gamzee I gotta preface it with this disclaimer because I think that anyone still following Homestuck proper (truthfully, I… don’t) might get confused about why everything is so wrong/different.

The story I’d come up at the time re: Gamzee and his religion was that he was uncomfortable with his blood caste and preferred the company of lowbloods. He did a lot of things to distance himself from his assigned place in the system, including the cheap household drugs, the way his house looks, how he talks, the clown thing. In bloodbent canon that religion does exist, as a lowblood religion that started as a parody of actual indigo military doctrine. It’s like pastafarianism if everyone lost sight of its satirical origins and started to really believe that a flying spaghetti monster created the world in a drunken haze and wore colanders on their heads in genuine reverence for their god.

Aradia is aware of it and thinks it’s a mix of funny and annoying since she’s been brought up with the actual doctrine and it’s a part of her identity. Her character arc is/was partially about her losing the direction her caste and the doctrine gave her, coming to terms that the things she planned ahead for don’t matter anymore, and moving on. It’s meant to mesh a little with Kanaya and Feferi’s arcs since these three are the ones who drive the story forward the most and so they got a theme going on. Gamzee is more isolated geographically but is less socially isolated because of Feferi, so while he’s still got his issues he’s not super into the clown cult.

I like your spin on Karkat and Vriska's relationship, it's very interesting! I always pictured them having a positive relationship (well, after a while). Do you think this could ever happen in any timeline of Derpbent?

There are two denizens that must die in order to complete the land’s quest, Cetus (Feferi’s denizen) and Lachesis (Vriska’s denizen). Out of them, only Lachesis has an unavoidable fight; Cetus can be killed in several different ways depending on what players do in other lands and in what order, but Vriska has to lay the killing blow on Lachesis with her own hands, and it is impossible to do on her own.

Vriska’s psionics are weak, so that she is only able to lift herself and other small, light objects. Her real strength is in how fast those small objects can be thrown, and so her main weapon is wire, which she uses to immobilize, skewer and strangle enemies. Her class’ signature ability is a damage-over-time move that slowly rots the target from the inside out and she relies on it heavily to actually kill the targets she traps, because even at high velocity, her thrown weapons don’t deal that much damage. These tactics won’t work on Lachesis, who is already immobile, heavily armoured, and poison resistant. It’s meant to be a team effort that she could ultimately take credit for despite not being able to do much of anything for most of it, if she wants to, and difficult enough that maybe, if there is any semblance of a conscience hidden somewhere within Vriska Serket, she might not want to.

She can choose two other players to go in with her. Some choices are better than others, and those ones are mostly people she doesn’t like very much and/or has pissed off by the time she has to face her denizen—Karkat, Gamzee, Aradia, Terezi. I designed this part to be sort of a potential turning point, where depending on how things went, she might have to face Lachesis alone or go in with one or two others who won’t be able to make a dent because nobody wants to deal with her shit anymore. Or she bites the bullet and admits to Karkat that she needs his help, badly, because she really honestly cannot do it and he is the best guy for the job. Which is possible, just unlikely. I think that if everyone is angry at her including Karkat, but he knows that if he doesn’t go with her Vriska’s flying solo, he’s not gonna sit back and let her die. That’s not who he is.

And so I mean like, there’s a chance there’d be at least some grudging respect after that. It Could Happen.

she gets nepeta to tag the hives of people vriska doesn't like with her face because even though she thinks she is better at art there is something satisfying about getting somebody else to do it. also because this particular tag looks way more obnoxious than anything vriska could hope to paint herself. nepeta is promised payment for her beautiful works of art but has never gotten it

karkat probably has at least six anime vriskas on his walls at the beginning and his entire tower will be completely wallpapered in them from floor to ceiling once she figures out she can copypaste designs.
