raised in a single parent home, william couldn’t tell you much about his mother, as she died while giving birth to his younger brother ( ethan ). by pictures alone, though, she seemed to be a beautiful soul, and his father’s stories of her proved that assumption to be true. the two lovers had abandoned their pack, and set off to raise their own little family. william never considered his dad to be a romantic, but the love the senior dewitt held onto for his former wife sure made him seem like one.

as william grew older, it was expected that he take over the family owned carpentry business when the time came, but he really wasn’t interested. instead, he passed off the torch for his younger brother to handle and set off to make a name for himself.

fresh out of high school, he signed up to join the army, movie ideals and hopes of glory swimming in his head. ditched the small town life to be a hero but basic training slapped the dreamer right out of him, he learned discipline and a great deal of survival tactics. and, to his surprise, ethan signed up and was stationed with william a few short years after his own initial depature.

one bonus of signing up was that they fully paid for his secondary education. with the knowledge already gained from the family business, william took a course and wrote several tests to be licensed in carpentry. 

he served a full tour of duty overseas, so he has plenty of stories of the various missions he’d been apart of, but there’s also a handful of memories / incidents that he refuses to speak of. while he served honorably, william lowkey hated every minute of his military service. 

while on a mission, his squad was ambushed, their humvee was destroyed and fell from a cliff into the river below. william survived the crash and swam out to the wreckage in hopes of finding survivors, only to pull eight bodies back to shore, including his own brother. emotionally traumatized by ethan’s untimely death and the unfortunate fate of his squad mates, william decided to leave the military.

after being discharged, he moved to mystic falls and quickly became involved with the town’s pack, longing to regain a feeling of family that he’d lost with his squad. fast forward a decade, william’s working the trade he had initially turned his back on, helping build around his community.

born into a family of hunters, one would assume all offspring would also follow suit. delayne, however, is a special case. while she certainly doesn’t stand for unjust murders, she also doesn’t believe all supernatural beings are necessarily evil.

her parents were still active hunters when she was born, and so for her own safety, delayne was often left in her grandparents’ care while her parents flitted about, traveling the world to take down the big, bad monsters that haunted her childhood stories and nightmares.

when thomas came back to mystic falls, she was still quite young and while her grandparents meant well, it was decided it would be better for her in the long run to stay with her uncle instead, who ended up basically raising delayne in her parents’ absence. 

she didn’t really understand all too well as a child, but as she grew up, the resentment started to build. of course, she loved and appreciated extended family, but she felt abandoned by her own parents. felt as if they’d chosen death over being with her and the rest of the boyd family. this resulted in delayne blocking them out of her life, refusing to have anything to do with them when the dropped in periodically - very angsty teen vibes.

as she matured, though, she realized their purpose in life was much bigger than her or their family, and she was eternally grateful to at least have had her cousins and siblings to grow up with.

delayne grew to be an extreme social butterfly. as a very friendly and vibrant girl, she had a large circle of friends, and thus attended all social events that went on in their town. her school work suffered slightly because of it, but the memories were what mattered most ( and always used in her defense when called out on it ).

after graduating high school, she took a break, working as a waitress to save up a good sum of money until she decided on what she wanted to do with her future. now in college, she’s studying journalism, but also lowkey has a desire to finally follow suit in the boyd’s legacy by training to become a hunter.

lyssa is, for better or worse, part of the kyriaku family, which means she’s been around the block more than a time or two. she doesn’t ask for this, and yet here she is. most of her life is spent making sure the world pays for her elongated existence, and though she loves her family, they catch most of that. she is a rambunctious child, and that only grows into turbulence after her first transformation.

Thomas is a local of Mystic Falls. He was born in town to strict hunter parents of the Boyd founding family. Thomas is one of three siblings and the only one to live permanent in Mystic Falls, as his siblings are active and unbias hunters who travel the world, killing any supernaturals they find who have taken a life (witches, vampires, werewolves). 

Thomas got lucky (at least in his head) in his teens before his parents could convince him that all vampires were evil and all supernatural’s were dangerous, he fell in love with a vampire. 17 years old and madly in love. She was a pure soul, something that proved to him without a doubt that some vampires were evil, and from that inspired him to think more than just the way his parents taught him. 

As a teen, his parents would take them on hunting trips, teach them all the skills of the trade and it was expected that you killed first and asked questions second. Thomas wanted more for himself and so while on the road to did his homework and he put in college application and he got into college in New Orleans, and waved his family goodbye. All by disappear for 6 years.

During that time, in New Orleans, he met a girl, Talia. A witch. The two fell completely in love and it was the best thing he had ever had in his life. The two got married in a little Church in the city with just two friends to witness. It was perfect. At least till they got pregnant. And instantly it was like everything just went wrong between them.

The moment the two found out the pregnancy, all they did was fight. Not about the future child but about everything else, about how the hunter and witch were going to be a couple and how they were going to raise a child and everything in between. Most of the problems centering on the fact that Thomas didn’t want to raise his child in New Orleans, at least not in the kind of coven that Talia was from. Talia’s parents had all by disowned her when she had thought about giving up magic to do ‘human’ things, to have a ‘human’ life. 

The fighting continued, even after the couple found out they were having twins. Thomas doesn’t recall how they got to the choice they made, but when the twins came into the world; they made a deal. Thomas would take one (Jessica) and returned to Mystic Falls and the other (Riley) would stay with his ex in New Orleans. The two of them would never tell a soul about the fact that they had had twins. They would never speak to each other again, and would raise the children as if the other parent was dead.

Thomas transferred his college to Mystic Falls and came home with a daughter. Thomas never told his family how it all went down or the truth that he had another child out there, and hew as pretty sure they assumed that he killed Jessica’s mother, and so when Thomas refused to go hunting, refused the life on the road and said he would forever stay in Mystic Falls and be the best father he could be, they didn’t argue and he didn’t just that. 

He became a doctor and has been raising his daughters in town ever since. The rest of Mystic Falls, knows Thomas a good, loyal and kind hearted doctor to all. The founding families knowing him as the easiest Boyd to deal with. Thomas is also the father figure to most of the other Boyd children. Thomas’ siblings (Danielle and Russell) following in the foot steps of their parents, going on the road, hunting, killing. And they were lucky, they had Thomas. Alex was a spirted witch when she was human. She danced, she gardened, she did spells to make the children smile. She did as she was told when her father said that she would marry another to make their coven stronger. She worked hard because she wanted to prove that she was fit to rule, she thought she deserved it. 

 Alex likes to explore the century she is, she adapts with the times and flourishes in them. When she travels with her siblings, she is all for them. They move or they stay, they kill or they live in peace, it’s really up to them and what they are doing. But every so often she wants to go off on her own.
