Food chain+ashnod's altar+torrent elemental= infinite mana? Does this work?

Food Chain requires the mana only be spent to cast creature spells. Torrent Elemental returns from Exile via an Activated Ability, so you can't use the mana from Food Chain to bring him back.

Even if this did work, by the way, Ashnod's Alter doesn't need to be involved because Food Chain lets you exile a creature anyway. You don't need the sac outlet, unless I'm missing something
