And he was fucking worried about him. Jeff was trying to protect Al in his own way, but the kid needs like... Professional help. Evan tries to push the thoughts of his own hypocrisy away. Weird interests, intrusive thoughts, fucked up dreams where he’s talking to himself (but it’s never actually him), and actions he’s taken that he can’t explain. But even so, Evan was handling it well. Nobody else needs to know. After all, what would happen if they found out? Best to just pretend he’s doing fine. Well, considering the circumstances.
