Blooming Roses

I thought perhaps the roses wouldn’t bloom this year. I’d figured they were tired of blooming year after year, just to be picked and looked over. Why would they waste their energy blooming if no one really appreciated them? For no one truly loves roses, they merely admire their symbolic value. Roses soon became worthless. While people were so focused on the looks & smells of the roses, they became blind to the rose itself. And for this reason, blooming roses are no more.
