Happy Holidays, Sinju!
Day 19 - Sinju!
Sinju x Platonic!MC
~*~
"Hey Rindou! Have you seen Sinju?"
Rindou looked over his shoulder and followed me with his eyes when he came to a stop at the sound of my calling his name. He smiled down at me as I came to a stop next to him.
"He's in the rehearsal room. He was having some problems with the lyrics to the new song and asked if he could practice alone."
I released the sad sigh that sat in my chest. "He works so hard."
"That he does. It all pays off in the end and it makes him happy."
"You're right. Thanks, Rindou!" I smiled and waved at Team P's leader, receiving a kind look and wave in return, as I hurried ahead and towards the rehearsal room.
When I got closer, I heard singing in the practice space and recognized him instantly.
As quietly as I could, I slid the door open and moved inside. On the far side of the room, facing away from the door and with a mic in hand, Sinju was looking down at a propped up tablet, scrolling up and down on a document that had lyrics on it.
A pang of sadness ached in my heart when he reached up to thread his fingers through his soft looking blue hair, completely and roughly disrupting the bobby pins he used to hold his bangs back.
Sinju, with hair still in disarray, stood up straight again and made another attempt at singing the lyrics. He stopped with a frustrated growl after a few lines before starting again. He was having a hard time with the beat for some reason, the lyrics not quite working along with it.
"Why isn't this working!?"
"Sinju?"
"Waaahhh!!" Sinju jumped in surprise when I called out to him, lost in his own, darkening, little world. When he turned to face me, he placed a hand over his heart in an attempt to calm its beat and his own breathing. "__________! You scared me!"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to!" I walked over to the Team P singer and stopped next to him where he was bent over, propped up with one arm on the table. "Are you ok?"
Sinju stood up again and gave me a half-hearted smile. "Yeah, I'll be okay. This song is just tough." "That's what Rindou said when I asked him where you were."
Sinju's cheeks pinkened and he scratched at the back of his head. "It's weird. I can't seem to get this one for some reason."
"You will! You're a great singer, Sinju. Something will happen and it will all come together. You'll see!"
His half-hearted smile warmed at my words. "Thanks, __________. Want to listen to me practice?"
"Sure!"
Sinju looked at the music again before starting the song from the top. When he got to the part he'd been fighting with, I could hear nervousness in his voice, but he pushed through. When he reached the end of the verse before the chorus, he stopped and looked over at me with one of his brightest smiles.
"I finally got it!"
"Congratulations, Sinju! I told you that you would."
"I think it's because you were here." He murmured, taking one of my hands in both of his and giving it a squeeze.
"I don't know about that!"
"No, I'm sure of it! Thanks, __________."
"No problem."
"So, why did you come looking for me in the first place?"
"Oh! I almost forgot." I reached into my pants pocket and pulled out the small jewelry box that was there. "Merry Christmas, Sinju!"
He dropped my hand and took the box from my outstretched hand. When he opened it, a look of surprise came over him.
His eyes were locked on the pendant as he pulled it out, before he looked at me with equal surprise. "Did you make this?"
"Yup! I've been taking lessons from Ginsei. It's actually a locket."
"A locket?" Sinju took the pendant in his hands and looked until he found the latch and opened it. His golden gaze misted slightly when he saw the picture of his family I had placed inside.
"As a reminder, if you should ever need it."
He looked back up at me before reaching over to pull me into a hug. "Thanks, __________. I appreciate it."
