You strolled through the botanical gardens on a cloudy afternoon, admiring the vibrant colors of the flowers. Unknown to you, a pair of honey-colored eyes watched your every movement with a warm smile. As you wandered around, you heard a rumble in the sky but chose to ignore it, thinking no rain would follow the thunder. Despite multiple warnings from the sky, you remained focused on enjoying the beauty of the garden.

In a blink of an eye, water poured down from the clouds without mercy. The consequence of your overconfidence had you paralyzed, and by the time you snapped out of shock, you were drenched head to toe. Quickly scanning the area, you bolted for the nearest shade. For a while, you stood there with your arms wrapped around your shaking body. You noticed movement from your peripheral vision and saw a man smiling at you.

His flawless tan skin, silky locks, and alluring gaze made your heart race out of control - attractive was an understatement to describe him. Then, you remembered the state you were in. Disheveled hair stuck to your face, makeup running, and clothes glued to your body, and felt embarrassed. You averted your gaze and screamed internally. Out of all the times, you could have met an attractive man, why now?

He took note of your movement and chuckled to himself. The tall man rose to his feet and casually walked into the rain without a second thought. His face turned up to the sky with a peaceful expression, and he closed his eyes, letting the cool drops wash over him. He breathed in the scent of the rain and listened to the soothing sound of the drops hitting the environment around him. Once drenched to the core, he turned his head to you and smiled warmly before walking towards the flower garden. As if drawn by his charm, you blankly followed him.

"My dear, there is nothing to be embarrassed about," his sweet voice tickled your ears. "You still look beautiful."

Your cheeks turned a shade of pink as you felt a rush of warmth through your body. He chuckled in response and slightly bowed while holding his hand out to you, "My name is Qu. Would you like me to dance with you?"

Nodding, you slid your hand into his soft, large one, and he gently kissed the back of your hand. "I would love to."

You and Qu were completely lost in the moment, dancing in the rain with abandon. Your laughter echoed through the surrounding flowers as you spun and twirled together. It was the start of an unexpected friendship that would eventually bloom into love.

A/N: Ahh, anon, I loved writing for your request! I hope you like it, and thank you so much! 😁

He stood in the rain with a bouquet in his right hand and a white umbrella with Sakura blossoms in his left. The umbrella obscured his face, making it difficult to see his expressions. "I apologize for being late. I hope you weren't waiting long."

No response.

Takami chuckled, "Seems as though you are upset with me. I might have to do all the talking today. All I ask is that you listen."

He clutched onto the umbrella tightly as memories flooded him. "Do you remember this umbrella...? Ah, right. I should not beat around the bush and get straight to the point. My objective was to keep an eye on Starless and certain members. I had a set of rules to abide by, and one of the first rules was not to fall in love. I thought I would have no trouble following the rule, but then you came along."

Takami paused when the pelting rain hit the top of the umbrella. "You better not catch a cold," he moved closer to you and slightly pushed the umbrella towards you. "Where was I? Right, the rule. When you first smiled at me, I wasn't sure how to react. I couldn't understand how my heart felt heavy and light simultaneously. The more time I spent with you, the more I understood the answer to my question - I was in love."

Buzz. Buzz. Takami mumbled an apology, struggling to hold the bouquet and umbrella in one hand while fishing for his phone in his jacket pocket with his right hand. "(Y/n), your glare is burning a hole in the side of my head," he sighed. "I turned my phone off. Please stop glaring. I never believed such words as love can happen anytime, anywhere, and the feeling is out of one's control. After meeting you, though, I have to agree. My feelings were out of my control. While my heart drew closer to you, my mind screamed at my heart to stop. I can't believe I'm saying such things...it sounded a lot better in my mind."

He shifted his gaze to his feet and silently watched the raindrops crash into his shoes. There was so much he wanted to tell you, but Takami worried you would get bored. He had finally managed to convince you, rather, convince himself to visit you and set everything straight once and for all.

"My involvement in shady businesses should have pushed me to maintain distance from people, from those I cared about. But...my heart was weak in front of you and clouded my judgment. I shouldn't have involved you in my life. If I hadn't, we wouldn't be...in this situation. (Y/n), I said I wouldn't beat around the bush, but that's all I have been doing. It's time I get straight to the point."

His throat felt dry, and his hands shaky, but he could no longer run away from the truth. "This is a final goodbye, (y/n). I finally found them. Each and every one of them, and this time...I won't lose."

Takami clutched onto the bouquet but quickly lightened his grip when one of the flowers caressed his skin. "Oh, I nearly forgot to give this to you. Here..."

Your boyfriend placed the bouquet on your lap and the umbrella beside you to shield you from the fierce rain. "Thank you for lending me your favorite umbrella, and I'm sorry for keeping it for this long. Goodbye, (y/n)."

He turned on his heels and walked away without looking back at you. Everything that happened was his fault. He knew he shouldn't have gotten you involved, and though he promised to protect you, he couldn't keep his promise. But this time, he would keep his promise to you - the promise he made to make them pay, no matter the consequences.

Once Takami was outside the park, he stopped and raised his head to the sky. The cool raindrops sizzled against his boiling skin. There was one thing he didn't have the heart to tell you.

"We might meet again, (y/n). Maybe in a couple of days," he whispered, slightly turning his head to look back at the park. "I have spent days planning, scheming, and gathering information. It won't be easy, but I will get revenge...for you."

Takami laughed as loudly as he could, his eyes never leaving the dark, metallic sign above the park gate that read "Graveyard."

Not Using His Song (HC)

Prompt: how would it be if the singers found out that s/o uses alarms or ringtones of other singers songs aka not theirs? i personally wake to purple dawn chorus and answer calls to yoshino’s treasured’s 2:15 to the quiet pause part.

A/N: Poor singers. 😭 Purple Dawn is be a pleasant song to wake up to. :3

Surprised and kinda upset, but he doesn’t show it to you. 

If you observe him closely, you will see him tense up, but he quickly regains his composure, especially if Kei notices you staring at him. 

In case you question him, Kei will smile and say, “It is not necessary for you to like his songs." 

Is he hurt? Yes, but he won’t make a big deal out of it as he is a secure man. Whatever makes you happy, but if you want to make him happy, change either your ringtone or alarm to his song. 

If Kei finds out you did this to tease him, you will be in a lot of “trouble”…to say the least~. 

Uncomfortable but not a matter he needs to create drama over. 

Yakou will stare at you in shock for a while, giving his mind time to process that you chose another singer’s song over his. A few minutes later, though, he will return to acting like his usual self. 

He honestly is okay with it, but that doesn’t stop the feeling of needles pricking his heart. 

If you are teasing him, Yakou will be relieved to know you like his songs more than songs from other singers. If you are not teasing him, he will eventually get used to it. Though, if you chose one of Sinju’s songs…it will take him a while to accept you like Sinju’s songs more than his.

The faint scent of roses wafted through the air; invitation clutched tight in your fist, you walked the familiar hallways of the palace. Your time as Belle long ended, that one month you spent at the palace felt like yesterday.

With the Belle system recently eradicated by King Chevalier, you were now free to visit the palace as you wished. But you didn’t. Not until you received this invite, hand-delivered by Clavis, who had informed you of the recent changes. 

As you weaved your way through the maze of hallways, the music now soft in your ears, your mind flooded with memories of that month you called the palace home. Lessons with Sariel. Tea parties with Yves and Licht. Hours spent in the library pouring over your favorite stories.

The library…

Of course you would never forget the times you spent there. The library quickly became your sanctuary - it was where you went to relax, where you escaped for a moment to pretend you were living another life. 

Where he found you…

“What’s a little rabbit doing here all alone?” he asked, his head tilted curiously.

“I have studying to finish,” you replied curtly, your eyes trained on the book before you refusing to meet his gaze. 

You heard him sigh softly; the tip of his cane grazing your chin, you soon found yourself staring into his rose-red eye.

Pushing his cane away was easy; he had already gotten what he wanted - your attention, so his grip was not as strong as it could be. Your heart pounded in your chest, not with fear, but something else. Something far worse.

“Why are you really here?” he asked.

Gripping the edge of the desk, you rose from your seat, his eye never leaving yours.  You had to leave. Now.

But you were never free to leave. Not with Gilbert around. In a flash, his hand was wrapped tightly around your wrist, his gloved fingers cold as ice against your skin. 

“There’s a ball going on and you locked yourself away in here.” His voice was soft, laced with sadness, reminding you that this beast was human. “Why are you hiding?”

From me. He didn’t say the words, but he didn’t have to. His grip on your wrist softened, his thumb caressing your skin. Closing your eyes, you wanted to pull away but you couldn’t. 

Why are you hiding, you asked yourself. To atone for the sins of loving the villain.

The last time you were alone with him, it ended with a kiss. You promised yourself not to allow yourself to be alone with him. You didn’t trust yourself around him.

“Please…” you whimpered as he held your fingers to his lips. Please let me go?

Or…please don’t let go?

Bringing a finger to your lips, you traced the ghost of his kiss; the chill of his mouth on yours still reminiscent, even after all this time. The music grew louder as you approached the ballroom.

A pit grew in your stomach, unsure you were ready for this. You tried to clear your mind, to focus on anything other than the face that continued to seep through your thoughts.

Who kissed who first didn’t matter, just that it happened when it never should had. Your fingers tangled in his messy locks, pulling him closer. Yes, this is what you missed, what you sought. 

He pinned you against the bookcase; your back arched against its shelves as he held your hand in his. You clung to his chest, your fingers digging into his back as he lifted your skirts, his body hard against yours.

Legs wrapped around his waist, you buried your head into his shoulder as your bodies became one. Here, in the library, no one would find you. No one would know what you had done.

You weren’t prepared for this. For how good it would feel. For how vulnerable you became.

“I love you,” he whispered in your ear as the pleasure became too much to bear.

“And I you,” you whispered back, your world forever changed.

Pressing a hand to your stomach, you paused as you walked by the entryway to the gardens. You smiled wistfully as the overwhelming fragrance of roses filled the air, the scent bringing you back to your final goodbye.

“I’ve decided to stay in Rhodolite.”

Speechless, Gilbert simply stared at you, his expression falling. It was like this that he looked most human. You balled your hands into fists, willing yourself not to reach out and hold him.

“In a few days, you’ll choose a new king. You’ll have to leave.”

“I’m returning to my old life. At the bookstore.”

His eye flared, its red burning brightly. But when he spoke, his voice was soft. “You’re choosing to punish yourself.”

“I can’t be with you, Gilbert.” You blinked back tears as you gazed at him, knowing you were ripping him apart. “It was a mistake.”

As soon as the words escaped, you wished you had not breathed them. The fire left his eye; now dark, dark as blood, he finally tore his gaze from you.

A pair of doors loomed tall before you. You glanced down at the invitation, now wrinkled in your fist and took a deep breath. 

Why were you so nervous?

Your dry laugh sounded foreign to your ears; you knew full well the cause of your nerves. What if he were here? Would you run if you saw him? Would you be disappointed if you didn’t?

The doors opened, an unfamiliar couple exited the room. It was now or never - time to step through those doors and face the music. 

As you crossed the threshold, you were certain of one thing. Your world was about to change once more.
