In Which Blu Ponders The Kosh'harg
((Posted this on Feathermap, thought I would post this here too.))
Bluburry walked back to the Swamprat Outpost, giving a nod to the guards as she passed through the gate. They gave her a nod back, used to seeing her. After all, she had been running patrols for months for them and other Horde settlements in Zangarmarsh and Hellfire Peninsula. It was quiet work. Take down the occasional critter that got too wild; a few minor skirmishes with the Alliance who got too close to Horde holdings. Nothing major compared to the battlefields of the Gultch or Basin. Nice and simple, no thinking required. Just the way things used to be before… well, before the Horde got to Pandaria. The tauren reached the small room she had at the Outpost; just enough to secure the few belongings she was traveling with. She had gotten most of her things out of Orgrimmar when her guild said to vacate, not that she had too much to begin with. Still, she missed the city where she used to work between travels to various battlefields. All for the glory of the Horde. “Ha, the glory of the Horde,” she thought to herself, snorting angrily. Where had that gotten them now? Her home attacked, her faith in the people that had saved her, given her purpose to keep going, gone. Yes, it was simpler here; anywhere but there, really. At least here she could still think that what she did was a vital for the Horde, the Horde she used to know. Putting her gear away, she was surprised to see a letter on the table; someone must have dropped it off. Bluburry opened it and scanned the contents, and then read it again because the script was a bit fancy and it used quite a few larger words she had to sound out. “The Kosh’harg…” she murmured. It was soon. She fiddled with the paper it was written on. Should she go? Would there even be a point? Could this sort of… of mess even be fixed? “Of course it could,” came the counter-thought. “People bravuh an’ stronguh than yuh are workin’ tuh solve it. Like yuhr guild, fur instance.” Bluburry cringed. These thoughts she’d been trying to avoid. She hadn’t even contacted her guild much more than to say she was off in the wilds doing patrols and not to worry. Had she just abandoned them in a time of great need because she was just feeling bad about attacking former comrades-in-arms? Again? Urgh, there was more to it than that but now her head hurt. She wasn’t made for this thinking and politicking stuff. “Maybe anothur patrol will clear my head...” She moved to set down the letter, but paused, to note the date. Nagrand wasn’t that far away; maybe they needed a patrol there too. And maybe there she could get the answers she needed, or wanted, to find.
