Blue chromis flowing over the bombies
various fish from an aquarium trip a few months back!
I saw a few photos of the fish "blue green chromis". They appear to be in salt water. Do you know anything about their species and if they can be kept as pets? One day I'd like to improve my fish husbandry to be able to create a saltwater habitat, but I need to be insured that it is something I can do so I don't waste my time dreaming on it.
Yes, chromis are saltwater and they can be kept in tanks easily! In fact they're an excellent fish for beginners.
They get just over 3" and are schooling fish that should be in groups of 6 or more, though ideally a lot more than that. In the wild they swim in huge schools of 100+ fish! They are reef safe and compatible with any fish that will not eat or attack them, despite being damsels! I'd go with at least a 30 gallon for these guys, preferably something longer so they can school easily.
