Last Saturday (16/8/25) marked TWO years of Chewy, otherwise known as Chewzilla, Chewbert, Chewby, Little Piggy, Snooty Fruit, Chew-bear, Choo-Choo.

We got Chewy with her mama, Nibbles (no longer with us). They were brought in their cage by their former owner and spent the first few weeks of their time with us in the living room. They were squeaky and apparently love the smell of human food - they’d always come running up to the bars whenever we brought our dinner through!

Now Chewy spends her days making as much noise as possible, attacking my flesh and sleeves and aggressively staring at me through the bars until I give her attention. She’s a vibrating ball of chaos and I love her so much.

I apologise if I ever come across as showing Chewy more affection than her sisters, that isn’t actually the case, it’s just that we’ve had her for longer and she’s bonded really closely with me. Which, I guess, isn’t surprising, considering she helped me through my grief and then we helped her through hers after she lost Nibbles. She then got sick and we had to nurse her closely while also helping her bond with her new sisters, and I think she knows what we’ve been through together, and she’s very attached to me.

Love you, Chew!!! I’m hopeful we’ll have many, many more years together (I’m genuinely hoping we find immortality together).
