(bunch of ideas i had for this gem type as a whole under the cut because wowie i had a lot of ideas!)

Iolites are like Spinels in the sense that they’re entertainers but their entertainment is more theater productions than jester-like antics

they mostly do shows for aristocrats and stuff

(yes i know iolite was used as a navigational tool way back when and that’s probably what they’d actually do in the show just let me have this whole storyteller thing)

most Iolites are blue but rarely they’ll be yellow or gray, these ones are the directors/screenwriters and other important roles

the Iolites who act normally utilize shapeshifting to play different roles, they can all shapeshift but only the actors actually use it

this Iolite in particular (facet-3U7L cut-7XB) is a costume designer for her particular crew (i. e. basically imagine an entire stage crew made entirely of Iolites). she might help with writing once in a while but mostly just to correct inconsistencies or to get a better idea of what the costume needs to look like

(the costumes might be made of tangible material if they need to be but mostly they’re just guides for the actors to shapeshift into when the script demands it)

she has like. a little holographic mannequin thing that she can manipulate to form costumes

she’s trying her best

has verbally lashed out at her coworkers out of sheer stress and “i know you need this area for making backdrops but i have spent the last full day on this one design and i am going to SNAP”

she doesn’t have a weapon but if she did it would totally be a sword

haha get it

tl:dr this might just be a character for a fandom i only entered for a living cartoon but i love her and will cherish her with my whole heart
