resurrecting ancient mlp ocs for fun and profit
Headcannon that the unusual OP children of the gods represent a rare natural phenomenon that happens in their domain.
Like Thalia being represented by a blue jet, an insanely powerful and very rare lightning strike.
Or Jason being a red sprite. (Which looks epic and diabolical as heck)
Oh, will? He's a fucking crepuscular ray, which is those stream of heavenly ass lights you see from between the clouds.
Percy is a goddam bloodfall.
It's when tiny non-crystalline nanospheres rich in iron, silica, calcium, aluminum, etc. Blood Falls seeps from the end of the Taylor Glacier into Lake Bonney. Scientists believe a buried saltwater reservoir is partly responsible for the discoloration, which is a form of reduced iron.
So basically oxidation.
(This absolutely wasn't me showing you guys my obsession with natural phenomenon.)
" Blue Jet" //© International Space Station
In 2019 The International Space Station spotted an exotic type of upside-down lightning called a blue jet (illustrated) zipping up from a thundercloud into the stratosphere ⚡️ ⠀⠀⠀ When storm clouds send lightning crackling in jagged streaks across the sky or produce a thundering bolt that strikes the ground, another otherworldly phenomenon sometimes erupts from the top of the clouds in a column of blue light firing toward space. These colorful flashes are called blue jets and they can stretch 30 miles into the stratosphere. ⠀⠀⠀ Blue jets can only be seen from the ground under rare circumstances because they’re brief and are typically obscured by clouds. But in 2019, instruments aboard the International Space Station (ISS) were able to record five blue flashes and a blue jet that shot into space from a storm cloud near the island of Nauru in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

hey so i really like blue jet by @andrenidae-e and i made a webweave about it
In 2019, ISS captured an upside-down lightning called “blue jet” which was zipping up from a thundercloud into the stratosphere.
NASA Captures ‘Blue Jets’ And ‘Red Sprites’ Above Thunderstorms From Space
“Blue jets may be bright, but their discovery was preceded by a longer-lasting, redder phenomenon: red sprites. First reported way back in 1886, they weren't photographed until 1989. Since then, they've been witnessed many times, including from space. These aren't from up-going lightning, but cold plasma discharges occurring above terrestrial lightning strikes. The color arises from fluorescent emissions: similar to auroral reds.”
Have you heard about blue jets or red sprites? These are atmospheric phenomena that occur during thunderstorms, but instead of happening between the clouds and the ground, they occur dozens of kilometers above the cloud tops! Although these phenomena were visually reported on occasion since the 19th century, no one photographed one until the late 1980s, and no one captured one in color until 1994.
Since then, astronauts on board the ISS get a regular show of these stunning phenomena, and today, we can share in the views ourselves. Enjoy!
