he forgets his wedding ring at home, second day in a row [sae itoshi x reader]
The second morning you found Sae’s wedding ring in the drawer, you didn’t get angry. You looked at it for a moment, picking it up and feeling the metal with your fingers, and then you smiled. Very Dangerously.
“Oh,” you whispered. “So this is who we are today.”
Yesterday, you had reminded him on call. Yesterday, he had said, “I won’t forget.”
And yet there it was.
So you picked it up, got dressed in wide-leg black trousers, a fitted sleeveless top, oversized sunglasses, and heels sharp enough to puncture, and drove straight to his practice.
By the time you reached, training was in full swing. The field stretched bright and green under the afternoon sun. Players moved in clean drills, passes snapping back and forth, cleats cutting across turf. Staff stood near the sidelines with clipboards. Someone shouted instructions in Spanish.
And there was Sae, in the middle of the field. Of course. Calm, sharp, flawless and obviously, annoyingly beautiful.
He received a pass, turned with surgical precision, and sent the ball clean through two defenders like they were decorative cones.
A few teammates clapped. One whistled.
He barely reacted at all this commotion, but then he turned noticing you walking towards him from the sidelines on the pavement.
His entire body paused, eyes narrowed slightly behind that unreadable face, as if trying to figure out whether you were real, why you were there, and why you looked like you had arrived to ruin his afternoon.
His teammates noticed immediately probably because Sae never froze.
One of them followed his gaze, then another. Soon half the field was looking at you.
A tall striker nudged another player and muttered something. Someone else grinned. Sae’s expression shifted into annoyance. Not at you. At them, his teammates.
Every click of your heels on the pavement near the turf was audible till the end of the field. The coach blinked. A staff member looked like he wanted to stop you, then took one look at your face and reconsidered his life choices.
Sae started walking toward you, his posture was controlled, but his eyes were alert.
“What are you doing here?” he asked walking towards you.
You smiled. “Good afternoon to you too, husband.”
You stopped in front of him, heels sinking slightly into the grass, you pulled out the ring from your pocket, “Forgot something?”
His teammates immediately went silent. Sae exhaled through his nose, “You came all the way here for that?”
You held up the ring between two fingers. “For that?” you repeated. “Interesting. I thought this was the internationally recognized symbol of a ‘married man.’ Are you not one? My mistake.”
Someone behind him coughed lightly.
You rolled your eyes and he held out his hand. You didn’t give him the ring. Instead, you took his wrist, lifted his hand, and slid the ring onto his finger yourself. Deliberately slow and very publically.
“There,” you said. “Congratulations. You’re married again.”
He looked down at your hand holding his, then back up at you. “I was married before you put it back.”
You shrug gently, "I dont know, were you?"
A teammate whispered, “Damn.” You glanced past Sae, “Louder. I drove forty minutes.”
The team lost it. Sae looked at you, eyes calm but amused. “You’re enjoying this.”
“Immensely.”
“You could’ve called.”
“I did. Yesterday. When I reminded you and you promised.”
“It slipped my mind.”
You gasped softly. “Your wedding ring slipped your mind.”
“It doesn’t mean anything.”
Your brows lifted. “It doesn’t mean anything?”
His eyes sharpened. “You know what I mean.”
Sae stared at you. You stared back. A faint breeze moved across the field. Somewhere behind him, a teammate whispered, “She’s amazing.”
His jaw shifted. You stepped closer and patted his chest. “Listen carefully, genius. You may forget tactics, names, dinners-”
“I don’t forget tactics.”
“But you will not forget this ring.”
His teammates were openly grinning now.
Sae leaned closer to you, voice low. “You done?”
You smiled sweetly as you adjusted his collar. “For now.” Then you turned to leave.
He caught your wrist gently. You looked back.
He lifted your hand and kissed your knuckles, teal eyes never leaving yours.
“Won’t happen again.”
You tilted your head, amused. “I know it wont. This will be the last of it, one way or the other.” You threatened casually.
Sae finally laughed under his breath, you staking your claim on him in public? Almost proud and immediately turned on.
As you walked away, Leornado went to him and muttered, “Your wife is scary.”
Sae looked at the ring on his finger.
Then at your retreating figure.
“No,” he said calmly.
“She’s perfect.”

ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁 .ᐟ in which mikage reo accidentally described you when asked who's his type
mikage reo is fairly popular in his school because of his family's well-know successful business, his charismatic and extroverted personality, and his good-looking physical appearance.
everyone loves mikage reo. he's an easy-to-approach guy that's why no one had felt uncomfortable approaching him. he'd always greet everyone with kindness and a smile.
his well-known personality stirred curiosity among his peers. everyone would see reo mostly with his classmates or his bestfriend, nagi seishiro. so is there anyone has sparked the interest of reo's heart?
like not playing football or hanging out with nagi but with someone romantically? is there?
“so sudden?” reo and nagi was approached by girls and suddenly asked if reo has a girlfriend or... a boyfriend?!
the girls immediately looked at nagi with possibilities.
nagi only blinked at them and scratched his head. “ehh, i don't think reo has one.”
nagi answered when he felt the girls' curiosity eyes. it was like pressuring him to talk as well though he didn't know why.
“i don't have one.” reo shrugged. “why ask?” he slightly tilt his head at the girls, seeking reasons at the sudden approach.
“really?” the girls looked back at reo.
“yep!”
reo circled his arm around nagi and smiled at them. “i'm busy with football right now!” he happily said.
the girls slounch their shoulders, slightly dissapointed on his answer. it seems the truth but the girls wanted to hear more about it.
“any ex girlfriends?”
“i think reo knows a lot of girls that likes him...” one girl shyly looked down with a slight blush on her cheeks. “is there a chance you're interested on one of them?”
“ah, well—” reo was cut off when a girl step forward.
“then what's reo's type?”
the girls looked at reo with hopeful and curious eyes as they all wait for reo's answer. when truthfully, he doesn't know how to answer it.
reo pulled back his arm that was around nagi and awkwardly scratched his nape. there was a moment of silence of waiting and thinking until reo finally spoke.
“someone... kind?”
the girls almost passed on the floor.
“what a boring answer, reo!”
“everyone can be kind so is everyone your type?”
“is that what you only find in a person? i'm sure there's something more!”
their yell gathered many people, mostly their classmates have circled around them to hear reo's answer.
nagi was telling reo that he wanted to get out of the crowd but reo was busy being pressured by people to tell them his type. reo was also thinking but he hadn't really given it that much of a thought until now.
mikage reo started to list some traits out loud that he could possibly liked in a girl until the crowds whispered an occuring name.
nagi happened to hear them and thought for a while. “eh? reo likes y/n?”
“y/n?” reo echoed.
“huh? what's up?”
everyone swiftly turned their head at the door and saw you entering. you tilted your head when you heard your name in the midst of the crowd.
people look back at reo then to you then to reo then to you.
“ah! reo likes y/n!” someone shouted in realization that made your eyes widen in surprise.
when you turn your head to reo, he was mimicking your expression except... he's blushing?

It started with arguments so loud that Hiori heard them from his apartment.
You had lived in the same building for several years. On the top floor, your two apartments face each other. You met him as if you were always leaving your apartments at the same time. When you went down to get your mail, he would take out his trash cans. When you welcomed a delivery person, he was "by chance" in the hallway. And you appreciated the small talks you had. You had gotten along well. Both were originally from Kyoto, sometimes playing the same video games together. However, you didn’t spend much IRL time together because Hiori was very busy with his career.
And he didn’t get along with your ex. Cold greetings when they ran into each other in the hallways. Never polite little conversations.. And murderous looks from your ex if they saw you two talking.
You never told your ex that you sometimes play the same games online. He was jealous, possessive, and you feared at any moment that he would explode with anger. Were you happy with him ? After the months of reflexion spent after the breakup : no. But you were in love, attached to him for years and you forgave each time his burning jealousy hurt you. He was the only one who never loved you so much. Maybe too much. But it was still love, wasn’t it ? That’s what you had been trying to believe all along. And who else could have loved you, accepted you with your flaws and imperfections ? Your ex kept telling you that no one else could ever love you. And when after another crisis you told him that you were breaking up, he said that no one would ever love you. You would never be loved again. Not like he didn’t love you. Couldn’t you get through that argument ? Did you want to take the risk of ending your life alone ?
“You're gonna regret it”, he kept repeating.
“You're gonna regret it” — when he had come to move.
“You're gonna regret it”— when he had stopped by to pick up forgotten belongings.
“You're gonna regret it” — when he came at four o'clock in the morning, drunk, begging you to give him one last chance.
And months later, those words still echoed in your head. On repeat.
No one else could ever love you.
No one else could ever love you.
No one else could ever love you.
Living a beautiful love story ? Starting a family ? According to him, you could have forgotten those stupid dreams.
You were well supported. Friends, family. You weren’t alone. But in your cold bed at night, you were anxious. Broken. You were no longer in love, but the poison of his words was deep within you.
You were coming home from work, exhausted but relieved to have a few days of vacation. A box of hot pizza in your hand, you were about to treat yourself to a peaceful evening with a movie. Loneliness had good sides. Your ex wasn’t there to tell you to be careful not to gain weight. No one would judge you to be dragging your pajamas around.
You heard footsteps on the stairs and soon Hiori’s silhouette appeared in the hallway.
“Hey,” he greeted with a smile.
You answered him with a friendly smile. “Good evening Yo.”
He was in sweatpants, with a bag on his shoulder and a box of food to take away in his other hand. He looked at your pizza.
"It looks like we had the same idea.
— Aren’t you supposed to be on a super strict diet ?
— Just a little reward to celebrate the end of the season.”
The season had just ended and Hiori had a few days off before resuming training.
“I’m on vacation too !” you retorted, amused.
Of course, he couldn’t ignore your dark circles, the weight you had lost since the breakup, your aborted conversations in the hallway. He wanted to ask you how you were. How you really felt behind that friendly and polite smile. But he didn’t dare. He didn’t want to appear too intrusive. You didn’t know each other that well. You would talk about trivial things in the hall or while playing together, but never confided in each other.
But he cared. Really cared.
"I’m going to spend a lot of time playing if you ever want..."
His words fell into silence but you understood what he was offering you. You didn’t play with him anymore. You didn’t have the strength to socialize. You didn’t know if it was politeness, but you nodded.
"It’s been a while," he added. "And I don’t have a teammate as good as you.
— You're exaggerating,” you replied with a short laugh. "I’m not nearly as good as you say I am.
— Maybe but…”
I miss spending evenings with you, he thought before finally responding : "It’s fun when we play together.
— Yeah. I feel the same.
— Anytime. I’ll be there.”
I’ll be there if you need to clear your mind.
I’ll be there if you need to talk.
I’ll be there for you, his mind thought.
But his lips said something different : “Good night, y/n. See you.”
Two days went by without you meeting again. You had hesitated several times to log in. To play a game or two with him. Just to avoid falling into anxiety. Without your work, you had way too much free time to think. To ask you what was wrong with you.
That afternoon, you jumped when the doorbell rang. You weren’t expecting anyone. You opened the door and froze when recognizing your ex.
“Hey, I-...
— I don’t want to talk to you,” you cut him before he could explain.
— Y/n, I have a lot to tell you.
— I don’t need to hear what you want to tell me. I have to go, I gotta go to work.
— I know you’re on vacation.”
A frisson crossed your back. How did he know ?
“I-... Please, just go. It’s over.
— It will be over when I decide that it is over ! I know you’re still thinking of me ! You go out with friends, you’re seeing your family, but you’re not dating anyone even though we broke up more than six months ago ! And I’m still thinking of you too !
— How… How do you…”
Instead of closing the door, you recoiled. A movement of horror. How did he know all this about you ? He took advantage of the anxiety that was taking you to take a step towards you.
“Y/n, we’re made for each other !
— No !
— Without me, you-...
— Leave me alone !
— Hey, is everything okay ?”
Hiori had opened his door. Without looking at him, your ex shot : "Get out, it’s none of your business !
— If you keep yelling, I’ll have to call the building custodian.”
— Mind your own business !"
Hiori reduced the distance between your two entrance doors to give you a glance.
"Are you okay ? Do you want me to call security ?"
Your ex turned around, teeth clenched.
"Let us go if you don’t want me to break your face !
— [Your ex’s name], please, leave,” you repeated with a pleading voice.
He looked at you alternately, then said before leaving: "I will come back."
Only his footsteps echoed in the hallway. Hiori had stopped in the middle of the landing.
“You’re okay ?”
You nodded, muttered a word of thanks before closing the door, ashamed and anxious. You were motionless for a long time near the door, fearing at any moment that your ex would come back. The day was slowly fading away but you were still paralyzed by fear. When someone knocked on the door, your heart skipped a beat.
“[Your ex’s name], get out !
— It’s me, Yo,” said a voice behind the door. “I just want to know if you’re okay.”
Silence.
"You don’t have to open the door... But if you need anything, I’m here."
You didn’t move but by focusing on his soft and kind voice, you began to soothe yourself.
“I warned the concierge so [your ex’s name] couldn’t come back.”
The tension was slowly falling back. You felt like you were crushed by intense fatigue and tears came to your eyes.
“Well... I’m going home now... But I'm not far if you need anything.”
Slowly, you opened the door and your eyes met.
“Y/n…
— I… I don’t want to… stay alone.”
Even if your ex couldn’t get back in the building, you were afraid he would come back. It was irrational but you were afraid. Afraid that he awakened your anguish, that he plunged a knife in your insecurities, that he broke you again and again.
"Can someone from your family or friends call you or come see you ? Or… Do you want me to stay until you feel better ?"
The emotion strangled you and you burst into tears. Hiori moved closer, reached out his hand carefully and stroked your hair.
"It’s okay. He’s not coming back."
Gently, he guided you inside your apartment and closed the door.
“I’m.. I’m sorry, Yo…
— Don’t apologize, nothing is your fault.
He hesitated for a moment before pulling you against him and holding you in his arms. He rubbed your back gently.
“I got you. You’re not alone.
— But he’s right... without him... I’m not…
— Without him, you can finally be yourself.”
You were caught in the spiral of your anxieties. Your ex’s words didn’t leave your mind.
No one else could ever love you.
You're gonna regret it.
You’re nothing without me.
Hiori held you tight.
“You’re great. A great gamer. Smart, always nice to the neighbors.”
He understood this feeling of never feeling good enough. Of not being loved — truly loved — for himself. He knew what it was like to feel this fear of not being loved.
“Kind. Funny…”
His warmth wrapped you, his words were like a cure against your fears, finally anchoring you to reality.
“Pretty.”
The last word came out by itself and Hiori fell silent for a while. He raised your chin to lock his eyes into yours and he cleared his throat.
“You’re amazing. I meant it. I don’t say this out of politeness... or compassion. I really mean it.”
Finally, you returned his embrace and rested your head on his shoulder. He placed his hand on the back of your head and ran his fingers through your hair.
"You’re strong. You don’t need anyone."
You could feel that he was sincere and your heart melted.
When you felt better, you invited him to eat to thank him. The conversation was light, pleasant. And you remembered how much fun you always had when you played with him. When you laughed with him.
Then, you watched a movie. An old geezer. Lying next to each other on your bed, laughing at ridiculous replies as if nothing could ever hurt you again.
When you fell asleep, he covered you with a blanket. He observed you for a long time. You finally seemed peaceful.
“Good night, pretty.”
He caressed your hair and left a kiss on your forehead before returning home.
