i don't think we thank maggie stiefvater enough for not using "oh no we're forced to go on this quest" as the reason why the gangsey embarks on the journey to find glendower. like yes give us a teenage boy with a special interest about a niche subject that kind of makes him ACTUALLY INTERESTED. i'm so tired of "we found this thing" or "we accidentally went to this place" and all the other YA fantasy novel tropes that initiate the plot. and a bonus is that you can tell she wrote the entire series with a thought out plan for EVERYTHING. no one's individual arcs seemed like a side thought or underdeveloped at all 🩷🩷
