Some kids were over to play, and we got out our bins of LEGOs for them.
They found a 1980s blue astronaut figure and said, “Hey, it’s Benny from the LEGO Movie!”
“Almost,” I said. “This is actually a blue astronaut from when I was younger. It’s older than all of you put together.”
They were almost impressed.
So, here’s a picture of Blue, gathered with some geeky friends in their antique computer club. The early 1980s were all about command-line operating systems. This thing is probably running MS-DOS, though it could be a later version of CP/M, maybe one of the 16-bit variants. (In retrospect, we should have put the Darth Vader helmet on the Dad 2.0 torso, since he has more kids than Tony Stark… as far as we know.)
Also, if you’ve been around for awhile, you may remember this LEGO clock:
Unfortunately the clock shattered in a fall onto a hard floor, and we decided not to rebuild it, though we still have all the pieces.
