What about drawing a wanted poster for Xebec that’s trying to pretend it’s not a wanted poster for Xebec? Like, it’s using a bad name and it’s him in a poor disguise. The WG wants Xebec dead now that he’s returned, but they can’t ADMIT they want him dead.

I was going to end this in a silly way, I don't know why I got into my feels instead. Harald was Rocks' best friend and the last thing Rocks wants is for Harald to be tormented in the afterlife so he's gotta show him that he's continuing his dream.

The half mermaid Luffy ideas give me ideas of comedy and miscommunication

What if Luffy was (maybe just when dry) human passing except for scales on his feet and legs?

Thing is, everyone else thinks it’s a Political Statement that he never covers those up. Wearing shoes and pants would be hiding, and he’s not going to do that!

Of course the truth is Luffy just hates socks and loves shorts. Jinbei in particular is baffled to learn this information

So is Arlong, whose kept trying and failing to convince Luffy to join him during their fight, and only got really angry when Luffy (having learned like a handful of basic mermaid bedtime stories as a child) responded to Arlong claiming to be the new Sun Pirates by saying:

“Fisher Tiger broke chains. He’d hate you.”

Other than that, the entire series is literally the same except people fish Luffy out of the water last when he falls in (he can’t drown) and a few bigots dismiss Luffy a bit more than cannon

Luffy also heard stories of one specific food stall on Fishman Island as a kid, so he has an additional goal to visit it when he goes there. This has no impact on the plot, it’s just funny that the thing he knows most about the island is related to food

Yeah! I think, the mermaid!Croc AU doesn't have Luffy who can transform. Maybe if he unlocks gear 5. So human passing merman Luffy would be interesting, especially if he retains some features that make people realize that he is not entirely human.

Of course, as you said, with Luffy displaying his scales is not a political statement at all, he really just doesn't like anything restricting his feet! Crocodile might squeeze his (just going to use he/him pronouns for now until we have a vote about Croc in the mermaid Croc AU) fins into dress shoes and look stylish in it. Doesn't mean Luffy has to do the same!

And if Crocodile grew up as a mermaid on Fishman Island (maybe in the Fishman District because the child of the Sea Witch and a human pirate might be a somewhat suspect individual, but also a novelty, so I bet Otohime would want to chat to Crocodile about the surface), Luffy would have heard some things, including Fisher Tiger. He really could get under Arlong's skin with any comment about Fisher Tiger. What does this kid know? This spoiled brat who turned his back on his blood? Whose mermaid/ merman/ fishman parent turned his back? Who even the sea rejects! What would he know!

Haha, of course Crocodile would tell Luffy about food down there and the kid would latch onto that. Let's just hope that the food stall still exists 20 or so years later *lol*

The relationship between Jinbei and a partial mermaid Luffy would also be a lot of fun, especially if Jinbei knew Crocodile beyond them being fellow (ex) warlords.

I don't think the WG ever assumed Crocodile wasn't a threat - they do award him a high bounty for his logia powers and how smart/ cunning he is. Crocodile is known for his organizational work - rather than building crew, he builds organizations and he's got the network and understanding of how the criminal underworld and the world at large works to make those organizations an actual threat.

And if it becomes known that he's got familial ties to Luffy and Dragon (and potentially Shanks and Blackbeard in a Rocks Twins AU) then the WG would award the potential of bring different anti-WG forcees together a higher bounty for sure! But I don't think that it would exceed Roger's or Dragon's, but it might go past the kids' bounties.

I think Luffy, generally, would probably approve that his family gets high bounties, but he might still do a bit of a grumble because isn't Baba's bounty just increasing because he's got ties to other people who've done things like take down Kaido? That feels like cheating! And then they might have some funny conversations about Crocodile saying it's only fair his work gets recognized; he's done the work of bringing Luffy into the world and raising him, shouldn't he get some of the credit? Just good-natured bickering whenever they meet.

(Though I bet the kind of gossipy reporting Morgans publishes once Crocodile's ties to Luffy and Dragon become known would make Crocodile angry so he can't be entirely smug about his bounty increase.)

Well, it might break if you killed Crocodile. But the two problems behind that are:

A) if you succeed, you have TWO Yonko who (presumably) want you dead

B) in order to succeed, you have to kill Crocodile

Addon to my last post: This panic gets even worse if Teach’s heritage is known, and even WORSE in Rocks Twins AU

Yes, yes, yes! I love the idea of the kind of chaos that could break out once people realized that Luffy is Crocodile's kid! Of course, not a lot seems to be happening considering Luffy is Dragon's kid - the RA and pirates don't really have a lot of overlap, they are two threats to the WG that are unlikely to combine - but there's always a chance that if you move against Luffy, Dragon will react.

Besides, the rivalry among the Yonko keep them as well as other powerful pirate crews in check, they are an important element of the power balance the WG wants to maintain. But if Yonko team up? That doesn't sound good for them.

Of course in the Rocks Twins AU, the situation is the worst. Crocodile's got connections to all of the Yonko and the WG thinks he's dangerous because of how well he can organize things. Maybe family relations alone would not bring the Yonko together, but if Crocodile called for a meeting? They, as well as the RA, would come. And that's the worst case scenario for the WG. Sakazuki might as well throw in his hat and retire. XD

I realize I never asked this, but I think mini-Mingo being in the colessium for Dressrosa would be hilarious because she wouldn’t be traumatized, but Doflamingo would be scared shitless once he realizes she’s there. Like, losing his MIND.

In the timeline I've got in my mind, he doesn't meet her and figure out who she is until after he is freed from Impel Down and joins Cross Guild (because he has nowhere else to go at that point, so why not hang out with them.)

It's possible she's on Dressrosa because she snuck onto the RA's ship as she always wanted to see the country. We can imagine that he does meet her because Dulcinea is fearless and most likely has contacted Doffy before (like in that one comic I've shared a WIP of where she calls him before the timeskip) and he would find some time for her.

(And maybe everyone around him realized that she's his daughter but Doffy himself doesn't. Or he does but he doesn't acknowledge it, while the wheels in his head are turning frantically. Like, yes, this is probably his spawn but who is this girl's mother?? But then everything goes to shit and he has other concerns.)
