Lithe fingers travel idly, tracing the petal’s softy silhouettes while she sorts out some loose ends, laterally protruding grass blades & sere leafage. A hum escapes her, a ghost of a tune as she lingers around him a few more seconds -- until everything seems perfect & right on spot. It’s been a while since she’s done these to anyone. Why she’d do it for him of all the people she knew & loved, however, was entirely beyond her just as well.

His question deserves a smile, jovial yet awkward in a way. She hasn’t been too meddlesome or gone overzealous on him, right? He surely would’ve said so. That’s what she hopes.

There were plenty of freaky people he coincidentally had ended up meeting lately — and she was definitely one of them. Oh, but it could be worse, right? Carter Blake, for example. He’s always the tip of something rather inconvenient that starts with a provocation and mostly ends up in a disaster. Thankfully, he’s not here today.

"Just relax, young lady. Whatever that ‘D.U.P.’-thing is you’re talkin’ about, I’m not one of ‘em. No need ta break anyone’s neck over nothin’, okay?" She was not a rebell or terrorist, was she? That implicit threat was drawing some of his suspicion.
