A rare “Blue Flower” moon 18 May 2019 was a “seasonal” not “calendar” blue moon 🌚. Seasonal blue moons only happen when there are 4 full moons within one season (3-month period). Instead of the 2nd full moon within one month (a 13th or blue moon which happens once a year), a seasonal blue moon lends its name to the name of the moon makes no it a “Blue [monthly name]” moon.
