one of my dreams right now is to create a queer medieval minecraft roleplay that has minecraft diaries vibes, but i need a partner and also more ideas than esper but minecraft and also medieval. thus far my ideas are 1) the friðr: past warriors who helped create peace among the species of esper and 2) the spirits of the friðr reincarnate all the time (there can even be multiple at once). the theme of the friðr is that everything ends, but if it’s important it will come again. i just need motivation and also more ideas
my brain is too puny to understand how time works. there are several ways to say the year on esper; most people go by the dragon’s system, who track time based on eras of the current ruler, some people tell time by historical events, but the gods tell time by saying how many years after the creation of the universe something happened.
is this too complicated of a way to tell time for the gods? i don’t want to use bc or ce because they don’t make sense to me and this is a fantasy world with no jesus, so there would be no reason to use this system at all. i like the idea of the gods using “the 13,8xx,xxx,xxxth year”, but then what year is it currently? do i just make up a random number for the present and go based on that?
jk on account of idk what the differences between my book world and my roleplay world are, i’m just gonna keep talking about them both here while i’m developing them
ANYWAYS!
the friðr (meaning peace) (possibly being renamed to the friðsamir vígamenn [meaning peaceful warriors] or simply the friðsamr [meaning the peaceful]) are monumental figures in esperian history.
over 1,000 years ago, only goldfolk (dragons, elves, high fae, other creatures to be determined), an older term that is only used by such creatures, ruled over other stonefolk (non-dragon/elves that live over 700+ years), treefolk (creatures that live between 200-600 years), and dewfolk (creatures that live less than 150 years).
the goldfolk are ancient beings. the youngest, elves, evolved from high fae that got trapped in esperii from tír na nóg over 5 million years ago.
the middlest, dragons, evolved over 10 million years ago.
the eldest and most primal are the high fae, who are immortal beings that have been around since the dawn of time. they are not native to esperii; they come from tír na nóg. tír na nóg is the eldest realm of the 3 currently created. it was imbued with magick so pure it’s almost unbeliable. tír na nóg is a land where time passes slowly, or sometimes it appears not at all, and is full of unbelievable magick. it is the most magickal of the realms. the fae, the creatures of tír na nóg, are where magick comes from.
the realm of esperii was created second and imbued with just a little less magick than tír na nóg. it has different rules and different creatures.
the last realm is earthia, which is the least magickal of the three but a kind or magick still thrives there, it’s just different.
portals pop up between the three realms and allow creatures to traverse them.
they say spells come from all sorts of different creatures, but dragons, elves, and high fae were the most monumental at the beginning. they are the inventors of most old spells and chants. because of this, they thought that magick was sacred to them and that they should be the only creatures (other than sacred creatures like unicorns or other naifscire [non-sentient] creatures that they can’t control) to use magick.
however, magick is natural to all beings, even humans who are not native to esperii. humans are native to earth, but they can still possess magickal ability if they have magickal ancestry.
humans, especially were banned from using magick and were especially indentured to servitude because they were “not magickal enough” or “sacred enough”. they are also one of the younger creatures, as anatomically modern humans only evolved about 500,000 years ago.
about 1,000 years ago, there was a prophecy that said there would be six that would bring peace to the turmoil or the land. there’s a prophecy but i haven’t written it yet so just ignore it. they were each assigned a role and a corresponding object.
mara, the leader, the crown upon a white wolf’s head.
shay, the protector, the sword of an undeterred compass.
zyan, the scholar, the rune of an icy flame.
anneth, the wanderer, the satchel filled with dove feathers
sparrow’heart, the compassionate, the heart made of mossy stone.
and rhosyn, the transformer, the shield engrained with rose petals.
these six broke against the dragon monarchy and brought about change for the non-goldfolk. but to do it, shay had to make a sacrifice. seeing no way to win against dragons with larger armies than this small rebellion had, he chose to do something rash. his idea? to make him and his friends unkillable. to do this, he stole the essence of the deity of time and stole the gift of aging. with the power of a goddess, he granted him and his friends the power of immortality. he also gifted himself the ability to bring back the dead and extend the life force of those of his choosing. the cost? his followers would need to kill someone else to steal their lifeforce. this would be the equivalent of them stealing more years. the more people they kill? the more time they have.
this is where my inspiration of shadow knights has been taken. let me know what y’all think!
do i call my immortal warriors the friðr or the friðr warriors?

friðr is an old norse word meaning “peace”. this group of warriors is best known for liberating the species of the world. prior to these warriors’ revolution, magick was reserved solely for dragons, elves, and some other naifscire (non conscious) animals that the dragons and elves can’t control.
other species (known as “lesser species” by the dragons and elves) were workers/servants to the dragons and elves. they were not allowed to be their own individuals until what is known as the magickal revolution which was started by this group.
so, what do i call them?
another thing to note is that to win the war, one of the warriors invented immortality and gifted his friends immortality, so all of them are still alive today. if that changes your answer at all.
