Charity commission for @bluestuffeh! 💤
A while back, I asked for some prompts from this list. @bluestuffeh asked for Stan and Angie in the Superhero/villain AU with the “Fireworks” prompt. So, very belated, here it is.
19. Fireworks
———————————————————————————————————–
There was a loud whoosh from the backyard. Shortly after, the back door opened. Stan looked up from his notes with a smile.
“Hey, babe,” he said. Angie, still wearing her clothes from her day job as a college professor, beamed at him.
“How were the girls?” she asked, crossing over to where he sat on the floor. She sat next to him and kissed him on the cheek.
“Perfect little angels,” Stan replied. Angie chuckled.
“That’s a lie if I’ve ever heard one.”
“No, it’s true,” Stan said. “They were way less hellacious than usual.” Angie laughed. “They’re still napping.”
“I’ll wait fer ‘em to wake up ‘fore I take ‘em to my place, then,” Angie said. She adjusted the way she was sitting. “Might as well get comfortable.”
“Kinda stinks that we live in different places and have to schlep the kids back and forth,” Stan muttered. Angie shrugged.
“Could be worse. At least we can both fly.” She cocked her head curiously at the scattered papers in front of Stan. “What are ya doin’ with all this?”
“Brainstorming.”
“Brainstormin’?” Angie picked up one of the pieces of paper. Her eyes widened. “This looks like chemistry work.”
“Um…” Stan rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. “That’s ‘cause it is chemistry.” Angie looked at him, her mouth open in a small “o”. “Something my mom really pushed was understanding everything about how your powers work. And unfortunately, if I wanna understand my powers, I’ve gotta understand chemistry. Not much chemistry, just the science behind combustion.”
“Combustion can be incredibly complicated,” Angie pointed out. Stan shrugged.
“If I wanna be good at my powers, I gotta know how they work. So that’s what I did.”
“You’ve been teachin’ yourself combustion science since yer powers manifested?” Angie asked. She set down the paper and picked up another one. Her eyes widened as she read Stan’s notes. “Wow. I can tell. These are incredibly advanced.”
“My powers manifested when I was two, so, no, not the entire time. But since I was old enough to start learning about science, yeah, I’ve been looking stuff up.” Stan jotted something down on a blank piece of paper with a smirk. “It pisses Ford off that I’m better at combustion science than he is. Sure, he’s got me beat in everything else that you learn from a book, but it grinds his gears that there’s one thing I know more than him.”
“It makes sense. As a pyro, ya have an intimate connection with fire. Of course you understand it. You create it.” Angie cleared her throat. “Not that yer knowledge ain’t impressive or anything.”
“Nah, I get what you’re saying. If I couldn’t make and control fire, I’d have had to work a lot harder to learn this stuff.”
“You would’ve figured it out eventually no matter what,” Angie said firmly.
“Eh. Maybe. But would I have bothered? Probably not,” Stan said with another shrug. He looked at Angie curiously. “What about you?”
“What about me?” Angie asked. She had picked up multiple pieces of paper and was now shuffling through them.
“Did you have to learn about wind stuff?”
“Oh, yes,” Angie confirmed. “Ma ‘n Pa read Lute ‘n I to sleep with books on weather systems. The first book I ever read on my own was about tornadoes.” She twirled a finger idly. A tiny dust devil spawned on her fingertip. “Honestly, I know as much ‘bout weather ‘n aerodynamics ‘n whatnot as a meteorologist.” She snickered softly. The dust devil dissipated. “But instead of goin’ into meteorology, I decided to punish m’self by pursuin’ a completely dif’rent field of science.”
“Yeah, but you’re the best lizard scientist on the West Coast,” Stan said. Angie cocked her head, smiling warmly.
“Aw.” She leaned in and kissed Stan’s cheek. “You never get quite right what it is I do.”
“That’s on purpose, babe.”
“I know.” Angie kissed Stan again. She looked at the papers she was holding. “So, what exactly are ya brainstormin’?”
“Whattaya think?” Stan asked.
“Hmm.” Angie frowned thoughtfully as she rifled through Stan’s notes. “Looks like yer experimentin’ with alkali metals ‘n alkaline earth metals.” She raised an eyebrow. “You have to be careful with those. They can be awfully reactive.”
“I know. Why do you think all my clothes are fireproof?”
“Uh, ‘cause yer a pyrokinetic?”
“Nope. I’ve had enough control over my fire to keep my clothes safe since I was eight. But fire I’m not expecting or didn’t create can be difficult to keep in check. So if I’m messing around with something that might explode outta nowhere, I gotta be careful,” Stan said. Angie giggled. “What?”
“Just…yer more like Stanford than ya realize.”
“Huh?”
“Bein’ loosey-goosey with protective equipment ‘n practices in favor of advancement of knowledge.”
“Hey, don’t insult me like that,” Stan retorted, eliciting another giggle from Angie. “In my defense, being careful is for suckers.” Angie snorted in amusement. “You’re being a…what did you call it the other day? A chuckle kettle?”
“A giggle pot.”
“Yeah. You’re being that.”
“I’m just in a good mood bein’ ‘round ya.” Angie leaned against Stan. Her caramel-colored hair tickled Stan’s face. “Anyways, why are ya experimentin’ with alkali metals ‘n alkaline earth metals?”
“They do something cool when they’re on fire.”
“They- oh! Yes, they make some wonderful colors.”
“Yep. They’re even used in fireworks.”
“Ooh, is that what yer doin’?” Angie gushed eagerly. “Yer makin’ fireworks?”
“Trying to.” Stan scowled at his notes. “I’m having a tough time figuring out how much of each element I need.”
“Why are ya tryin’ to make fireworks?” Angie asked. Stan felt himself immediately blush. “What’s with that reaction?”
“N-nothing,” Stan mumbled.
“Aw, is the reason somethin’ sweet ‘n sappy?” Angie cooed.
“No.”
“Yer not as good a liar as ya think ya are.”
“That’s not true. You’re just unnaturally good at sniffing out my lies.”
“Heh.” Angie’s eyes twinkled. “Seriously, why are ya experimentin’ with fireworks?” Stan was silent. “C’mon, tell me!”
“Nope. You’ll find out next week.”
“Oh, boo.” Angie blew a raspberry at Stan, making him laugh. Faint crying sounded from the nursery Danny and Daisy were in. “Sounds like the girls are awake.” Angie kissed Stan on the cheek and stood. “I’ll have to get the information out of ya some other time, then.” She left the living room, humming softly. Stan turned his attention back to his research into fireworks.
Good thing she’s leaving. She’s too much of a distraction. I need to focus if I wanna get this figured out in time for our anniversary.
Personal hc, Ford and Stan visit their Ma again after all these years and she's so happy to see them it brings her to tears. Maybe she gives Ford a gift and explains that Filbrick wanted to give him some stuff after he passed away, and some of that stuff was actually gonna be for Stan except by then he thought Stan was already gone. How he grieved when he heard he lost his son and how she thinks he held many regrets. Stan and Ford visiting their Pa's grave one last time before they head out
I've liked that idea that there might be a possibility their mom is still alive. I wanna believe perhaps Filbrick did have regrets. Yeah, we have that detail of him keeping that gold chain Stan took from the Lost Legends comic and gave it as a gift. But it's just... Idk. I have strong issues with Filbrick obviously. As for visiting their dad's grave, it would make for some closure.
Idk if you're doing the drawing thing, but 2B with Stan or 3B with Ford?
Ask and ye shall receive Thank you! I hope you like them!
Hello, @bluestuffeh! Once shipping is finished, we might have a sale on leftover merch and physical zines. We can’t guarantee it though since we imagine we’ll have limited supply. In the meantime, digital copies will still be available to purchase on Big Cartel if you’re interested! Thank you for your interest and I hope that answers your question!

Love your new icon, vamp Stan looks like he's having none of it lol 😂
Did you know vampires are always secretly dabbing?
Hey yo! I'm sorry if I come off greedy or selfish, but would it be possible to move some of your gf works from your old blog to here or is that asking for too much? No it really is a big ask, I'm sorry 😨 Just really loved your older fics that were Tumblr exclusive and sometimes finding them is a bit difficult since Tumblr decided to stab itself in the back, and idk I guess I'm afraid of them being lost forever like many other amazing fics Ugh it feels weird to ask so much
Hey, no problem!
I DO want to move my fics - the problem being, since tumblr boned me on my old account (cellard00rs - the good ol’ double zeroes) it’s VERY hard to search that old blog.
At some point I plan on dedicating some time to moving it, but it would probably require more than one day off to do so. Hopefully I’ll get the chance sooner rather than later!
