Saw a post on my town's subreddit of a 20-something asking for volunteer groups or social clubs to meet others in town. Top comment was someone posting they should volunteer at the animal shelter. "You can play with kittens and walk dogs for free!"

I wonder if they know that volunteering there requires a down payment. That it requires working minimum hours every month for six months straight. Failure will get you canned as a volunteer and any hesitance gets your app rejected. I wonder if they know volunteers can only work during a 5 hour block when the shelter is open, 11am-4pm, and are only open 5 days a week. I wonder if they know there is weeks of training to be completed before you're allowed to even come in and play with the animals.

I hate how nostalgia and desire can make one of the most emotional-rollercoaster-heavy times of my life also feel like one of the happiest. Logically, I know a lot of it was stressful and emotionally unfulfilling, and re-reading my journaling from that time shows that. But then, I so desperately miss the good times, when things were going good and she and I were talking all the time, and it was so nice to have someone to always have something to talk to and enjoy spending time with. Looking analytically, I know the highs felt so high because the lows felt so very low, and that’s a sign of unhealthy relationship/friendships. But still, it’s hard not to miss it, especially at times where I’m stressed or lonely. It’s hard to believe that was over 4 years ago now.

I’ve been trying to make more friends, but god damn I’m either too picky, or it’s really hard as an adult, or both.

The thing I hate about making OCs with other people involved in the process is that like. . . I will use the same face & name every goddamn time, but change up like backstory, development, personality, power set, relationships and total vibe. . . .

. . . and people will get stuck on the fact that they all have long dark hair like I'm SORRY I am NOT THINKING ABOUT THAT I am THINKING ABOUT HER REVEALING TO HER BULLY-TURNED-NICE-LOVE-INTEREST THAT SHE DIDN'T KILL HERSELF OVER HIS ANTICS THE WAY HE THOUGHT AND HAS, IN FACT, BEEN HAVING A LITTLE CHUCKLE ABOUT BEING ALIVE THIS WHOLE TIME.
