Layer Masks 1- Steamboat

For this image the plan is to explore layer masks and add a duplicate steamboat seamlessly into the original photo.

above I have an screenshot of a layermask that I made of my steamboat,

To ensure my second steamboat looked like it belonged in the image I used the blur tool, changing the hardness, size and opacity as I went along depending on where I was in my section so as to properly blend the original area with the duplicated steamboat.

Lowered the opacity for the second and third steamboats to add a bit of realism as things in the distance would be blurrier/harder to see

I also switch using by brush tool black=erase area white= show area, as another way to blend the original background layer with the layer mask.

Final result above. I ended up adding 3 boats I think I successfully managed to blend them into the environment with the time that I had.
