When Thanos had attacked, Gemma had not been paying much attention. She and Nate had more important things to work on, like taking out her father and everything he built. And, it was not her problem. Gemma was not an Avenger. Besides, the two needed a break, especially after the run-in they had with Gemma's father. One in which Gemma nearly had been captured. And the two had come out with several bruises and injuries, proving that Matthew and his son. Did not plan on going down without a fight. Which was a surprise that Gemma had not planned on. Standing before him, she looked up at Nate, a smile on her face. Finally, after some time to catch their breaths, a sigh escaped her lips, "thank you, Nate. For helping me and doing all that you have done," leaning up, lips planned to meet with his, however just as they were about to touch, she slowly faded to dust.
The snap had ‘chosen’ her, and for five years, she had spent time in someplace she could not describe. But, to Gemma, it felt like she had never left.
Five years had passed slowly for those who remained, but after Tony snapped his fingers, people began to return to the world. Many returned to the exact moment they had been in when the snap had taken them. And soon, Gemma appeared in the spot where she had been with Nate when it happened. Gemma was on her toes, leaning up for the kiss, but when her eyes opened, no one was before, which caught her by surprise and nearly had her fall. 'Nate?' Glancing around, she wondered why Nate had wandered off when they were about to kiss. They had been standing together right there. ‘Huh, did I have a memory lapse?’ A hand came to her head. No headache, something that usually happened when she ‘forgot things’ or lost track of time and became a doll. Figuring that he had walked somewhere else in the house, she began searching for him.
“Nate? Nate?” Walking through the house, she laughed, “where did you go? Are we playing hide and seek?” To Gemma, she had not been gone for five years. “Because you know if I find you. I want to get a prize.” Arms crossed over her chest as she continued to search. And, after a moment, found him. A grin came to her face, “hello, handsome. You left me standing there, which was rude. If you ask me. Especially when we were about to kiss, hurt my feelings.” Coming over, Gemma sat on the couch and sighed. “What’s wrong? Did you not want me to kiss you? Because sorry if I seemed like I was pushing you. I wanted to thank you, and uh... I thought it was something we've both wanted.”
