1. Touching My Hand/Touch My Hand

Took place during play rehearsal, sung by Jeremy and Christine. Parts of the melody eventually became Loser Geek Whatever. Can be found here

An earlier version of Halloween.

4. What I’m Not

Eventually was replaced by the Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into reprise. It was Christine and Jeremy singing about how they don’t know who they are yet, but they know what they’re not. A little bit can be found here

5. Dad’s song

Earlier version of The Pants Song.

6. Rich On Fire

Earlier version of The Smartphone Hour.

There was an AAPI BMC???

Okay so there’s 2 answers to this!

Thought not AAPI specifically, there was a Japanese production of Be More Chill and there were specific performances of Be More Chill Broadway that were important in terms of AAPI representation on Broadway.

For the Japanese production, it was an official production of the show in Japan with the same creative team as Broadway and London. It was almost entirely in Japanese and used the 4.0 script from the London run. It had an entirely Japanese cast.

Be More Chill has 4 leads, Jeremy, Michael, Christine and the SQUIP. During its Broadway run, 3/4 of those were usually played by actors of AAPI descent (George Salazar, Stephanie Hsu, and Jason Tam). Then one performance when Troy Iwata, another AAPI actor, went on as the understudy for Jeremy, Be More Chill became the first show on Broadway, that was not specifically about being Asian, that had all 4 of its leads be played by actors of AAPI descent (if the specifics of this are wrong someone please correct me).

I will never be over them changing “tall ass” to “short ass” when gerard went on for jeremy and then having the line “well you could be if you weren’t hunched over all scared all the time” just be “yeah well… you look it”

so people were confused about how jeremy takes the squip so here’s the short answer from scott: it’s sleight of hand, he swallows a tic tac with water

btw if anyone is curious, bmc japan has the exact same script as bmc london except translated into japanese, the squip is still from japan and it continues to speak in japanese when it reverts to factory setting and when it deactivates, brooke’s french is still in french though

also something interesting that I found out about the bmc play is that it actually happened in 2008, not 2009? Like on ned vizzini's youtube, the upload date is 2009 but all the other info says 2008. so it wouldn't be the 2009 play, it would be the 2008 play.
