I knew i’d end up loving Mirko after reading her first words in the manga and seeing that her grin then and later at hawks little speech. That woman loves herself some trouble/action and hunts it down. Right after her introduction the first comparisons to Bkg, his fierceness, speech pattern and attitude, were drawn by some fans & she delivers. I still find myself a bit surprised that she gets celebrated for her kickass loner act which bkg gets still criticized for (despite character development)
This is why I said that introduction matters a lot.
The very first image we see of Bakugou, is him attacking someone weaker with a feral grin. We see a snapshot of his worst behavior at the worst point in his life. For Bakugou’s character, it’s all an uphill climb afterwards to win the audience’s empathy. And for many people, no matter what he does, he’ll never be more than a bully.
While Mirko is clearly sassy and has a loner attitude is introduced as a top hero and the highest ranking female. We see that cheeky grin, and we like her. And I’d say, even if she discovered a stain in her past (not saying there is - we don’t know), we would look at her different, because how she was introduced made us like her and root for her. Any additional information of her will be read in this sympathetic light.
