Broken Arrow - Wild Blue Orchid (Encore)
thank you woodlands for making my last band trip such an amazing experience. these past three weeks have been full of tears, hard work, and joy. what we did Saturday night is something very special to my heart. it doesn't matter that we didn't place first. what matters is that we fought till the very end, and we put everything we possibly could in our last performance. not matter what I'm proud of being ranked sixth in the nation. it's been a wonderful journey woodlands, thank you for everything.
so a smol story from me as much because i dont want to forget as because i want to share it.
So in every warm up before a competition, my band plays this chorale (idk how to spell it). I’m not sure what it is, but i think it’s You’ll Never Walk Alone, because our motto is we never walk alone. Regardless though, it’s our good luck song, and it’s special.
So here we are, in our warm up area back in the depths of Lucas Oil (lol), knowing we are about to preform our show, the best show that many of us have ever been a part of, on a national stage, for the very last time. Especially emotional for the upperclassmen because we know this is our last time on this field, and for the seniors who know this is their last time ever going on any field with our band.
and somehow the color guard ends up in this heap of a group hug and its all very emotional and there are tears everywhere and the music is playing in the background.
It was just like this one moment where all the hard work we’ve put in since July was finally worth it and coming together, and even all the anger and frustration was behind us (bc let me tell u it was a stressful season) but it all fell away there at the end. And i just
