Nautical Themed Cake
Boat Cake
A few weeks ago my mom challenged me to make a boat cake for my uncle who loves boats. The problem was when I googled “boat cake” a bunch of sail boat cakes came up, however few speedboats, which was what my uncle had. Meaning I had to get creative and channel my inner cake boss.
As other cake boss fans know Buddy cheats a bit and makes a lot of his structures out of rice krispie squares. I decided to give this a try. It turns out rice krispie squares are very easy to mould. I waited for the rice krispies to almost harden and then cut out the shape I needed. It looked a bit like an elf shoe, but it worked!
Then I used my recipe for fondant to change the elf show into a kickass boat. I created an engine, windshield, steering wheel, and life rafts using black coloured fondant. It’s easy to mould and shape because as I said before it’s basically playdoh!
I wanted the boat to be out of the water as if it was accelerating. To do this I used the extra cake I had cut out to flatten the rounds and created a small mound which I attached with icing.
To create the waves I messily iced the top with blue icing. I used a toothpick to add streaks of dark blue and white caps. I used a small icing tool to create the waves.
And that was it! It was actually one of the easier cakes I’ve made, total time was just over 4 hours.

Amazing cake
YACHT CAKE - This was a unique challenge! With a quite large list of 'required objects' on the cake ... including books, a couple of jet skis, a Guns-n-Roses towel, a jacuzzi, an Italian sandwich, a bucket of limes, and more... this yacht grooms cake came out awesome!
