Robert “Bob” Crippen (born 11 September 1937). Flew 4 Space Shuttle missions, including the first in 1981, where he was pilot.

Bob Crippen can be called a legend for many reasons but in my book he is sealed as a hero for what he did after the Challenger disaster, what he did as part of the recovery efforts, for Greg Jarvis in particular. His dedication to his friends and colleagues was unrivaled.
