Finally checked out the Apollo 1 book in the Apollo Photo Archive series, put together by J. L. Pickering, John Bisney, and Ed Hengeveld. Here are some of my favorite photos of the crew from the collection
Doesn’t matter that I know it’s coming, and no matter how many times I’ve been through it—reaching January 27th knocks the air out of my lungs. Especially with a collection like this, full of new and wonderful photos, I find myself frantically turning the pages after that evening, desperate for Gus and Ed and Roger to reappear. Those beautiful smiles gone forever.
Grateful to the great Ralph Morse for this cute attempted-panoramic of our crew during their training

NOTE: Astronaut Ed White is buried at the West Point Cemetery located at the United States Military Academy in West Point New York.
I think we’re gonna die in this house..
Ed White be attacking everyone
