In reality, the only thing we can control is our character, so that should be my primary concern.

Heidi and I knew how best to resist coercive techniques: we needed to come to terms with our imprisonment, to appear submissive, and to remain silent.

Jesus once asked, “What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your soul?” …I learned the opposite is also true: if you’ve rescued one soul, it means more than the whole world.
Religious freedom, it can be argued, is our first freedom, and it lays the foundation for all other basic human rights.
Start small. Do something. Be faithful, loving, and courageous.
