This is pretty random but I like to think that after beating the Shadow Queen Mario and the team just go to the Rogueport to celebrate instead of him going back to the mushroom kingdom immediately after. In PM64 the partners at least get the party that was supposed to happen but here they defeat the Shadow Queen, reveal the treasure was a dry-ass mushroom and then he just. leaves. They deserve to have fun for one night damn it. Like imagine all of them having fun and laughing and telling stories for once after going through hell and back it would be so cute.
