ok i’ve been seeing a lot of lohen as a Dad posts and. dksvdidsgdkdhdj omg. but i’m incapable of doing short little only fluff bits i need Plot so uh. idea that i tried making into a one shot rewritten like 3 times ‘cause i didnt like how i was phrasing things but. plot beats ideas as bullet points i guess!!
desc: Who thought it was a good idea to let Lohen take care of a kid?!
"—and that's why you should always watch your surroundings." Oh, Varka thought, was Lohen lecturing his subordinates? He was more of a hands-on teacher, but maybe he'd listened to a lecture directed at him for once— Varka stared in disbelief, and slight horror. Was that a child nodding along???
the doc i have for Fic is just called. “lohen and the child who just showed up” i couldnt be bothered to think of a more meaningful name
but anyways. when i was playing lohen’s story quest a while ago and the very little elaboration we got about ursa the drake i really wanted to make an oc, or a story with the idea
because dottore is just. Like That, and while. eroch isn’t nearly as smart, they were clearly doing a lot of experiments on wildlife and monsters with ursa’s flesh thay lohen & theodore later took advantage of
but. dottore and his research. becoming part of irminsul, defying fate, becoming more than a god, power and knowledge, hand in hand. i hate him out of principle but he IS an interesting character to think about
anyway
what if, dottore tried just. using ursa’s flesh? no outside input, just reverse engineering it to try and recreate the angel that once existed? in that balance during when they probably made their ‘choice’ to keep their power instead of their form/mind, what if he could rewrite that fate, wouldn’t that be interesting?
he has the segments. and there is precedence in the game for rewriting fates (both durin and anya), but dottore is not for wasting his life. he isn’t for kindness and soft approaches, on results, failures or otherwise.
and obviously he succeeds, to some extent, since there would be no altered story otherwise, but once he does, he does. nothing.
something something a child’s form/existence is more malleable to hold all of the Bad and Memories and Power and that’s why they’re a child
because he doesn’t want the angels knowledge— he doesn’t need their power, this is all a stepping stone for his final experiment for himself.
but eroch is prideful, jealous, and infinitely stupider. he probably wasn’t even told a lot about why dottore was doing extra experiments (which failed and failed countless times until one finally succeeded)
probably doesnt even know what an angel is, and the way my timeline was (kind of wonky.) it was like. dottore finishes, gets bored of the whole thing, eroch is getting sloppier (kidnapping more kids), varka comes back, eroch is captured, and not!ursa is left there, in a hidden, abandoned, forgotten lab. (the one that theodore later finds and uses, but not!ursa is tucked away in some corner that varka & co, and lohen, don’t venture down because there is the more pressing issue of Actual!ursa waking and ursa’s flesh/blood in lohen’s veins.
i should probably probably name not!ursa for convenience’s sake but. ugh. in the doc it was just in second person so i wouldnt have to type out [name] or find one. uh. well. color differences will have to do.
anyway not!ursa! the idea was like. they have all the memories of ursa. as a dragon, as an angel. but they were made. purposefully contained? the potential is there, but dottore didnt bother bringing it out and enoch was caught soonish after so
ursa’s flesh is corrosive(?) and corruptive, but not!ursa was directly made from it. it’s a sort of immunity. which is good because you know, still locked in a cage rhey can’t escape with only ursa’s body for food.
i don’t know if they would be physically capable of escaping? it would be a noce parallel to lohen, anyway, if they COULD but never even thought about it. y’know like jumping flies and the cap and they don’t jump higher than the cap even when it’s gone.
sure the guards are gone, but what does that matter?
the difference between knowledge and wisdom and knowing how to use any of it. kinda like how a computer (not!ursa) and the internet (memories) but needs a user (someone else) to search things up and use the knowledge it has.
idk whose pov it would be in. lohen’s wojld be funny and more of an emotional arc journey of. this child can’t be just tossed to some random knight or civilian. their entire existence is classified because of the enoch and ursa situation. it has to be someone In The Know and like. he found this child after stumbling across them when wandering back in the lab to take out some more monsters idk
who else could take in the child. diluc is uh. i think canonically Not good with children (or at least klee.) traveler is. traveling all the time. varka. could? but is also busy avoiding paperwork and i’m sure hed step up but this was about dad/caretaker!lohen so uhhhh. some mental gymnastics and lohen decides he’s the only option (theodore is still on probation or something.)
and i think everyone can agree lohen would not be a Normal Parent in any sense. it’s only fitting he gets a kid who also doesn’t know what is normal for raising a child and their age is questionable (do memories count. i don’t count them but ehhh. conflict.)
it’s wrangling a small life that is strong and weak and almost definitely won’t die before you or get old and die and grudgingly growing to actually care in his own way and teaching them how to live and not care about what other people think. they don’t have to enjoy fighting like him, but this is the land of freedom. do what they want, not what they remember ursa doing once upon a time.
and then if it was from not!ursa’s pov. a lot of introspection? but also a curiosity. identity (are they just ursa? are they going to be a repeat?) and being really confused about lohen
parallel’s to durin’s journey/life, and how both have fates tied to ‘evil dragons’, but durin had a loving mother and the hexenzirkel’s support/blessings. had albedo who kind of figured it out, vaguely. not!ursa had. dottore. eroch. random scientists and abandonment. and then lohen.
familial love, and also panic about it because angels and seelies and curses and made up lore about what kind of love doomed ursa enough to want the power instead. because not!ursa does prefer lohen’s company and presence above literally everyone else’s. if that’s not favoritism/a kind of love
and. this is turning back into my obsession with seelies and lore. eeeee.
if i wrote it i would 100% cave and write both, and maybe an outsider’s pov.
somehow i got terribly distracted from finishing this (started july third, the original word Doc from. 2 months ago. so i’m just gonna release it so it doesn’t haunt me in my drafts anymore)
maybe the muse will hit me with a feverdream in a year. and i will come back to this.
