I finally finished my first Art Fight attack, featuring Bobbin Bobble by @inkabelledesigns in her Magical Girl outfit! This took five million years and didn't go in the direction I expected but I'm very happy with it.

Woven from the love of the Weaver Witch, Spinstra, Bobbin is nothing less than magical! She aims to one day become the greatest mage from Patchland! Given the reputation of her evil sorcerer uncle, Yin Yarn, and his multiple attempts to take over Patchland and Dreamland alike, Bobbin found herself struggling to break out of his shadow. But upon traveling to Dreamland and befriending Tiff, Meta Knight, and Prince Fluff, she finds that she's far more than a bad guy's niece. While her family history is still complicated, between Yin Yarn's extended relatives and Spinstra's history with NME, Bobbin knows that she defines herself, not the people that came before her. 

Bobbin has a strong love of adventure, be it reading about it from her cozy bedroom or going out into the world for herself. She can constantly be found problem solving with her friends, and she takes great pride in her ability to help, be it in Cappy Town's community center or the weapon forge of Halcandra. While her initial lack of training made her feel small, she's since gained a lot of confidence and pride in her spellcraft. Bobbin's magic is channeled through strands of yarn and her crochet hook (which acts as a wand as well as a melee weapon). She can rearrange the yarn wrapped around her torso and in her buns into different shapes to aid her as tools in battle, commonly using webs to catch people. Trouble is, once she's out of yarn, she's limited in what she can do. Occasionally she will also use this to reshape Fluff and swing him around. She mostly acts as support, empowering her friends. But when she's needed most, Bobbin will step up to the plate to be just as much as a full fledged hero as those around her.

Her claim to fame is studying the Metamortex: the mysterious magic that can transform Kirby and Prince Fluff into all kinds of things: tankbots, trains, dolphins, etc. Bobbin has worked hard to understand and recreate them, as well as craft some original ones of her own.

Metamortex Mage: 

Bobbin is a huge fan of magical girl anime and manga. So while pursuing her studies of the Metamortex, she has indulgently crafted a magical girl form for herself! It's equipped to carry a lot more yarn on her person, so it takes longer for her to run out. And as any good magical girl is, she's super stylish and sparkly.~ Much like the Metamortex itself, she glitters with a pastel rainbow in her fibers, shining brightly and ready to take on whatever the world has to throw at her!

Alright folks, it's Art Fight time soon, and your girl has been working HARD to get a lot of new refs done for new characters on the page this year. So I'm gonna share them with you here now as a group, and then I'm gonna post them over on my Kirby OC sideblog with more information about each character. Because darn it I love them all so much, and after working so hard to get everything done, I think I've earned a yap session. XD

Mentor and Student - Meta Knight and Mage Bobbin Doll Customs (November 2025)

So continuing from my last post, finishing a doll of my Kirby OC meant that I needed to get a few photos of her with my Meta Knight custom. In-universe, he's responsible for teaching her hot to fight with her staff, as well as bringing her to an old friend to forge her weapon.

Credit where its due, this crocheted Kirby is actually the creation of my cousin! It was very important to include him here.

Hey folks! I have been thinking about this for a long time, and I've decided to finally dive in and do it! Introducing something new to the blog: Ask Bobbin!

If you have any questions for Bobbin about anything within her world, she will answer them via text post or audio recording! It's entirely dependent on what I have time for/if I have access to my microphone. My goal is use this as practice for my voice acting.

A couple of ground rules before we start:

Questions must be sent to my askbox.

Keep it Safe for Work. Bobbin is a minor, and I generally want my blog to be a friendly space.

Yes you can poke and her and cause a little trouble. (Asking about Yin Yarn or the Master Crown are easy ways to rile her up.)

I am not obligated to answer every ask. If it makes me uncomfortable, I won't answer it.

For those of you who are new here, here's what you should know about Bobbin:

Bobbin is the teenage niece of Yin Yarn from Kirby's Epic Yarn. Her mother is Spinstra, the Head Witch and Healer of Patchland.

She is currently dating Prince Fluff and has been going on adventures with him for the past two years.

She is a mage in training that is actively studying the Metamortex (the in-game power up gimmick that turns Kirby and Fluff into tanks, trains, etc.).

Bobbin is an Arachknit: part arachnid, part demonbeast, all yarn.

Her lore encompasses both anime and game elements.

She's friends with Tiff, Tuff, and Knuckle Joe, a couple years after the events of Kirby Right Back At Ya (meaning they are teenagers. Kirby is about five years old ish?).

Meta Knight is one of her mentors.

She knows Magolor and helped to repair the Lor! She also joined him for the events of Magolor Epilogue and has had to deal with the Master Crown three times. All of them sucked!

She knows other royals in the Kirby universe thanks to her connections with Fluff. These include Queen Sectonia (and Mage Taranza), King Phanta, Queen Ribbon, King Dedede, and of course, King and Queen Organza of Patchland.

It's Bobbin's first Halloween, so naturally there had to be some art for it. XD Our little yarn mage is rocking a fit she made herself this year.

In-universe, Bobbin loves a book series called "The Adventures of Sir Urchin". Her costume is one of the many looks worn by Urchin's faithful companion, Mage Metaphora, a very clever Simirror. Metaphora sports this look in a ballroom scene from one of Bobbin's favorite entries.
