Under The Radar: The Front

I first found out about The Front from going through my dad's CD collection.

Weirdly, it was always an album I knew about but I never got around to checking it out until I found an original vinyl copy when I went record shopping!

Not only is my copy of it a promo, it includes the press bio and the press photo too! My copy is pristine and I've listened to it countless times since I got it.

I remember how "Fire" hit me the first time I listened to it. It was such a cool tune, and then I heard the rest of the album and I was obsessed with everything on it.

I find The Front really cool because they have these vibes of Alice Cooper and The Doors, but with a hard rock edge so it's insanely cool to listen to.

They're a really great rock group, and it's crazy that they only ended put out one album, because they're such a cool group.

It's just a bummer that these record companies don't promote the bands they should promote, because time gets put into artists that are what the public wants to hear, which has caused an endless amount of great bands to fade into obscurity while the same, conventional stuff gets popular.

You'd think that record companies would promote what's different, but they don't because it's a risk to put money into something original, because no one knows if it'll succeed and a record company isn't gonna lose money, they're gonna stick with what works which is best for the record companies, but not what's best for the listeners who want to hear something different.

Anyways, here's one of the many fantastic rock groups that may have faded into obscurity, but we here at Generation Clash unearth all the true gems, so I present to you The Front!

Retronaut Selects: The Front - The Front (1989)

This album is one that always confuses me as to why I didn't check it out sooner. My dad has it on CD and it always weirdly stuck out to me, but I never listened to it. I guess I'll never know why.

Anyways, I was at a record store and I saw it on vinyl, but I ended up leaving it since it was just a regular American pressing of it. My dad convinced me to leave it because there's always the possibility of finding a promo copy at some point.

So. I go to another record store, not too long after this, and bam. It's there. The Front, in shrinkwrap, promo punch hole, along with the press photo and band bio in the jacket, pristine and unplayed. I got it that day and I can't even count on one hand or even two how many times I've listened to it.

It's so cool!! Ever since I first heard it I thought it was awesome and I've loved it ever since. The fact that it's such a pristine copy is what makes me love it even more because I've never seen it on vinyl until the time I saw it and the time that I got it.

Certain albums are really scarce, but I've found out that basically everything can be found at some point. You just have to wait it out. Let me tell you that this was absolutely worth the wait.
