Bobby Taylor by Vladimir Snezhin
Bobby Taylor ❣️
San Francisco's vintage strip club row, where the first legal topless clubs in America emerged: The Condor, the Roaring 20s, the Hungry I, and Big Al's.
Big Al's was an Al Capone-themed strip club.
Tommy Chong met Bobby Taylor at Big Al's when they were both working there as house musicians in the late 1960s.
"Big Al's band never left the stage for its entire five-hour gig," said Tommy Chong. "Each musician would take a fifteen-minute break every hour while the music played nonstop and the girls danced nonstop. It was a grueling experience that only the young could survive. We did it one night a week and, believe me, it took at least a few days of rest to recover."

this movie made me INSANELY ANXIOUS. BOB HAS MY ENTIRE HEART, AND I FUCKING HATE KELLER I DO NOT CARE THAT YOUR CHILD IS MISSING, YOU DO NOT TORTURE SOMEONE TO TELL U WHERE YOUR CHILD IS. i know i can probably say this cause i dont have a kid but LITERALLY HE WASN'T EVEN THE KIDNAPPER, he got KIDNAPPED. the plot was great, great plot twist. actors were awesome, david dastmalchian came through like he always does and he was so damn cute in this film like LOOK AT THIS
i was praying so hard he wasn't the kidnapper and i was SO HAPPY TO FIND OUT HE WASN'T AND THEN HE KILLED HIMSELF AND IT WAS REVEALED HE GOT KIDNAPPED BEFORE, why does david have to act as characters that just make me so sad T-T
December 18, 1969 - The Jackson 5′s debut album is released
“Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5”, with an album title suggested that Motown star Diana Ross had discovered the group, as do the Ross-penned liner notes on the back cover. Ross' supposed discovery of the Jackson 5 was in fact part of Motown's marketing and promotions plan for the Jackson 5; it may actually have been Motown producer Bobby Taylor who discovered the Jacksons. But Ross embraced her assigned role and helped promote the group, especially grooming young Michael Jackson as a star.
In December the young group went on the airwaves to promote the first single, “I Want You Back” (shown on the clip above being played on The Ed Sullivan Show). It became the first of four Jackson 5 songs that went to number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1970. The song also became the blueprint for future Jackson 5 recordings: there was now less of an emphasis on traditional soul, and more prominent elements of doo-wop and bubblegum pop music. In fact, Motown's publicity department dubbed the Jackson 5's sound "bubblegum soul".
Don't Be Afraid - Bobby Taylor (Taylor Made Soul, 1969)
Bobby Taylor, the veteran singer and producer who brought the Jackson 5 to Motown in the late Sixties, died Saturday at the age of 83.
My condolences, may he rest in peace. Very sad.
