A BLACK SWAN CALLED AFAN
Hi everyone! Please Read, Comment and please please Share my blog Lies, Unity, Lible & Slander : Aid for AIDS of Nevada.
After being I was diagnosed with HIV the only way I could afford my expensive life saving medications was to go to an Agency called Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) that provided assistance to pay for HIV medications. But to get assistance I had to sign a Zero Tolerance Policy that stated that if I said anything bad about AFAN, anything at all, even if it was true, I could have my services terminated. All of AFAN’s HIV positive clients had to sign this Policy.
AFAN’s mission statement states that they “provide support and advocacy for adults and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in southern Nevada.” That AFAN works to “reduce HIV infection through prevention education to eliminate fear, prejudice and the stigma associated with the disease.” AFAN says it is “committed to a system that nurtures personal growth and dignity of persons served.”
This blog covers 4 years of clients mistreatment, mismanagement, intimidation, and abuse by AFAN’s Executive Director and Board members. What AFAN did was shocking and appalling. With public outrage just how did they get away with it all for so long? Read and find out more.
