19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why)well once upon a time (age 13 i believe) i joined a fanfic community forum and made a few friends in the roleplaying boards. there was a whole board just for original character interaction (back then we called them muses bc OC implied that it was a character you made up specifically to fit into an already existing fandom, where as a muse could just be a character that came from no where or from a place you made up), and i ended up with a whole mess of OCs whose stories got entwined with my closest forum friend’s characters. eventually, two of our characters got married and had kids. around that time i kind of fell out of the community, but i kept all those characters in my heart and expanded on everything my friend and i had started. one of my favorite OCs is the eldest son of the characters my friend and i created. his name is Nicolo, and since he was born in the peak of my anime phase he’s a half demon (or hanyou if you wanna use the japanese word. and yes, like inuyasha, only Nicolo is half cat instead of dog). he’s one of a whole group of characters that i will probably never put in a story, because he is so fleshed out in my head that i can’t really stand the idea of anyone like projecting their headcanons onto him. Nicolo is special to me because every year that goes by he becomes more of a reflection of myself. his identity keeps growing and changing, and i have always given him traits and experiences that reflect some of my deepest life fantasies. and yeah i realize i’m saying all this about a character who i just admitted is half cat. like. what do you expect from me. i’m not gonna describe him too much here tho bc this is already too long and honestly i feel like people would laugh at it??? but like. he really means a lot to me and i don’t want to share something like that with the chance that people will mock me for it lololol.
44. Something you like about your OCs in generali like that my OCs all carry at least a little piece of me. each one of them is at minimum a projection of one thing that i am/wish i could be/aspire to become. i also like that my OCs let me retell their stories (even if only for an audience of one) over and over and over again until i find versions of them that just feel Right. (for example: i’ve always known Nicolo’s twin brother is gay, but it took me a very long time to finally “find” another character that suited him. in my head they are now engaged, after several years of being too stubborn and scared to ask each other out and then several more years of blissful dating. but that doesn’t mean their story is done or that it’s boring now--the terms of their relationship are still evolving in my mind and just recently they had a Big Change so. basically: i love that my OCs never let me be bored.)
