Do you know the Malinois and Border Collie breeds, Ji-ho and Eun-ho? In-ho didn’t choose them by chance. Border Collies are known as herding dogs; they’re very intelligent, friendly, and full of energy. They’re easy to train and follow orders and routines without a hitch—they’ll always find something to herd, always! So… why not Gi-hun? He wouldn’t mind a cute dog staring at him, and Eun-ho could keep Gi-hun on track, guiding him around the farm like the little lamb he is.
As for Malinois, they’re widely used in the military. They are high-performance dogs, with lots of energy, very strong, a firm bite, and absurd reaction speed. Easy to train, but they have a lot of energy to burn. Which will leave Gi-hun exhausted from playing so much, with no energy left for anything else. When Gi-hun tries to run away, Ji-ho won’t even get tired bringing him back. Plus, they can defend him if In-ho happens to be away.
In-ho took Gi-hun to a place somewhere in the world. Gi-hun only knows that it is no longer in Korea. He is still pure from betrayal, but now that the games are over for a few months, In-ho wants to make them feel more at ease. It is a large house with a large plot of land, discreet workers, and In-ho himself does some chores.
However, just when Gi-hun was imagining how easy it would be to escape, he is introduced to In-ho's two new dogs. A Malinois and a Border Collie, Ji-ho and Eun-ho. From then on, they would take care of Gi-hun. (That is, make sure he doesn't run away or get into trouble.)
At first, Gi-hun was scared when he was introduced to the dogs; he thought they were fierce and feared they might attack him. However, In-ho introduced both Ji-ho and Eun-ho, saying they were docile and well-trained, and that he had already introduced them to Gi-hun’s scent. They would accompany Gi-hun and keep him company
It took Gi-hun just two days to get used to them. They followed him everywhere, loved to play, and were very smart and well-trained. Eun-ho guided him around the grounds, and Ji-ho, despite his imposing build, always came back with something in his mouth and wanting affection. They were both adorable.
But something changed after about three weeks. The house was empty of servants, and In-ho had something to take care of in town. He told Gi-hun to stay home, since the nights were very cold and dark. But of course, Gi-hun wasn’t going to miss the chance to escape.
He felt bad, but he gave his babies some treats, waited for them to fall asleep, and slipped out quietly through the back door, as silently as possible.
But he didn’t get far. He made his way through the woods, because if he ran into In-ho on the road, everything would be ruined. It was difficult, but he walked a considerable distance until he heard... footsteps. No, paws. Pounding the ground hard. Panic rose in his head and he ran as fast as he could, but the forest seemed to grow darker and darker, and the sound seemed to be coming from more than one place. He heard a loud howl coming from ahead and froze. How? How had they already passed him? He tried to turn around, but a black figure brushed past his leg and knocked him down. His arms shielded him, but right next to him was Ji-ho, barking and whimpering as he sniffed him. Then he sat up with his tongue hanging out, his tail wagging.
Before Gi-hun could figure it out, a flashlight was shone in his face. In-ho smiled, accompanied by Eun-ho.
“Good job, good boys.” He praised both dogs. Eun-ho helped Gi-hun up, and Ji-ho looked at In-ho as if expecting a treat for a job well done. “They’re trained, Gi-hun.”
